There's a pretty jar on my kitchen counter that my fiancé uses to hold his loose change. Really it's just a grown-up piggy bank, but he doesn't use the built-up change at Toys 'R Us! In fact, I'd be curious to see how much is actually in that heavy jar. Do you have one of these?

Before I went to Paris this summer, I exchanged all my built-up change for over $300 — and then fewer euros.
No. I just use my change purse and my savings account
I have a small change dish but nothing ever stays in there for long.
I have a little one that I put change in. I normally don't carry much cash, so I don't get a ton of change. We usually use what's in the piggy bank for car washes or cookies at church.
I have a big coffee can full of pennies that Mom gave us for my son...he loves to stash them in his pockets! Other than that, the loose change that we accumulate usually goes to laundry that week.
I actually throw change in old flower vases once they're full I take them to the Coinstar machine found in my local supermarket. My son receives allowance once a month and most of it comes from the "money vases" as my sister calls them. One time just for fun I used different cookie tins and filled each one with the same coins, quarters, nickels, etc....
I have a piggy bank I made that has dollar signs all over it and a "capitalist pig" label on the side. I LOVE finding change on the sidewalk so I can put it in my little buddy.
Mine is a cow bank...but same idea. Those coins really add up!
not a piggy bank exactly. i have a box that i put all my change in more so becuase i HATE to be weighed down by it...but i usually don't use the money. i think that my boyfriend does though....kind of counter acts the point
I bought a ceramic container that says "vacation fund" and that's where my change goes.
My prior roommate used to throw her change on the ground unless it was a quarter. Gasp!! I was like dear sweet god do you know how much money you could be saving? She'd leave CVS and just toss the change!
I have a jar on top of the mantle in the bedroom. When its full its usually about $60. I also have a pug piggy bank, a sushi cat bank, and various others.
mine looks like a hightop converse. i got it when i was four or five years old and i still use it
I have a BOX full of change under my bed. I am extremely curious to know how much is in that thing!
I kept 3 jars for 2 years. When I took them to coinstar, I had over $500!!! That was the start of a fun weekend.
i have one, emptied it out a few months ago and had around 150$
thats a nice deposit into my bank account
i have another one going.
lol, i use a an empty bottle of mouthwash...
NOT MY IDEA! my fiance had it started when I moved in with him and we fill that puppy up...with everything except quarters (we use quarters for laundry)....we rake in about $100 each time and that goes straight to the savings account.
have one in my room (a ceramic dish i made) for when i am emptying out my pockets, and one in the living room, too. before we left the country last year we emptied out our jars and had about $50. i think we'll probably put it towards something like a trip to Seattle or something. Its only $25 per person per way on the bus and then there is the hotel...so i think we could save up that much from change in a year or so. when i see my dad for the holidays or in summer he always gives me whatever change he has when he pays for things - even bills! by then end i had received over $150 from him in just the 2 weeks! it was pretty sweet.
Im not sure if some of you guys have taken notice, but some banks have installed coin counting machines in some branches. If you are an account holder you don't have to pay a fee to have the coins counted. After finding the machine I will never use coin star again.
I have four piggy banks lol.. I got them from pottery barn and they are super cute .. one says 'my first million' my quarters go in there. Another says 'girls night out' my dimes go there. And the last says 'casino cash' and I put nickels there. I use an old tea jar for pennies. At the end of the month, or when they are full, I take them to the grocery store to coinstar and have a surprising amount of cash given to me from my change. I'm obsessed with change now!
I have two jars... one for quarters (for laundry, parking, bus fare, etc) and the other for everything else. The everything else jar is overflowing so I need to take it somewhere. I will have to look into the bank thing that Skinny Marie suggested.
I have my big pink piggy bank from my childhood. My dad would always drop in his loose change - divided equally (or so I suppose) between my sister's and mine. Now my husband drops in his loose change (except quarters - those are handy!) and we're waiting for it to fill.
I gave a cute little pig to my friend for her 6 month old daughter; I think my friend's husband is doing the same.
I have two - one for pennies and another one for "silver" coins.
We have a jar that we cashed in for $77 when we moved. It's halfway full again!
I have a jar---I empty the change out of my pocket and purse every week. I have no idea how much I have.
Yep, my boyfriend and I have a joint jar! Last time we emptied it, it was enough for a posh night on the town! I keep raiding it for bus fare though, so it's going to be slow to fill up again.
Yes,however its not a piggy. It's from Japantown - it's a Beckoning Cat (a fortune or good luck kitty). She sits high on a book shelf facing my front door like a Bastet statue from ancient Egypt would have done in ancient households.
Whenever I get a Sacagawea golden dollar from the BART, I always feed it her. I put any special coins I find in her. Any bills I find in pockets that I wasn't expecting to find go into her. And strangely whenever I'm a little short-I suddenly remember Fortune Kitty has money and she easily coughs it up.
I actually do. It's a black piggy with a nose ring! Ha. I think my kid brother stole it and all the change that was in it as well. Sad.
i actually don't have a grown-up piggy bank but now that i think about all the loose change i have in my wallet, i think i might start one.
Well it's that or carry the pennies around in my already-overflowing-with-change purse!
Not a grown-up piggy bank, but the same Miss Piggy bank that I've had since I was a kid. All of my loose change goes into it. I cash out at the end of the year. Last year I had about 150 dollars, I think. Pretty nice!
I do. Ha.
We have an old glass milk jug that we keep our change in. When it fills up I take it to the Coinstar machine at the grocery store and turn it into something fun like amazon credit or a starbucks card. They have lots of options now that won't charge you a processing fee if you turn it into a gift card! It is also a great way to buy people christmas presents without having it show up on your credit card. It just takes a little work to make it to a common gift dollar amount so you don't give that $32.73 gift card.
Sort of! I have three bank accounts - a chequing account for all of my regular expenses, a savings account for major things like a house, and then a special account that I call my 'splurge' fund that I squirrel away all of my extra cash and monetary gifts for a rainy day treat. It's my little hi-tech piggy bank.
It's sort of anal-retentive, but my change goes in three places:
*Quarters get saved for laundry
*Other silver stuff goes into my car for meters
*pennies are tossed into a small handmade basket. Full, it holds ~$2.50. I'll roll them when I'm watching TV and feel the need to multi-task. When I have ~$10, I take the rolls to a store or bank and exchange them for paper money.
There is one that me and hubby use to dump out pocket or wallet change into when it gets too heavy, and then there is my cute pig that says Facelift Fund, I got it for my 30th birthday...and I stash money for my splurges there!
my father saves his change all year and when it's time for his annual vacation he uses the total for spending money. i thought this was a great idea, so i started a jar of my own. i haven't decided on what to use it for but i'm anxious to see how much i've saved when it's full.
I throw my change into a a wide-mouthed plastic bowl in my kitchen drawer. I'll use it for McMuffins now & then. Mmmm....McMuffin...mmmm....
I keep a jar for small change because I don't like handling a lot of loose change.
We have a big pasta jar that we fill up. Just throw anything in it, then when it's full take it and use it for groceries. I WISH my bank had a coin counting machine. That's be awesome
Yeah, I do it's called a savings account know now though. Just kidding, I have a big water jug where all my spare change ends up. I recently caugt my daughter dipping in to buy her candy.
My change all stays in my coin purse, but I had to get a container for the boyfriend so he would stop leaving change all over the bathroom counter. Now he has one small jar for quarters (laundry!) and one big jar for smaller change.
I hate carrying change, especially pennies, so I try to use it up as soon as possible. Except quarters, those to into the ash tray in the car for bus fare for the kids. That way I'm sure I always have plenty.
I have two. A small that I put all my loose change in and a large one that I put bills and coins in. I have saved so much money this way!!
I just put change in the car and use it to keep from breaking bills. A real grown-up piggy bank is what we use at our bank. They round up and save the extra. Example: If something is $1.75, they 'take out' $2.00 and put $.25 into savings.
I saved my pennies for fun while I was in college, but I haven't really bothered as an adult. I spend my pennies when I have them. I still need to run those pennies through Coinstar and see if I have enough to buy a latte.
Money's money. Every penny counts.
My boyfriend and I throw all our change into a big jug, once it gets full (and quite heavy) we take it to the coin machine at the bank...it's always exciting when it adds up to a couple hundred bucks!
Me and my Fiance' do this. We saved up for a little over a year and had around $800 in change and $1's!
Yea I do that. I have one at home and one at work (all pennies).
Every month I cash out the one and home and its averages around $50.
HEck ya! I got a really cute one from Old Navy, its a little black big with an Sombraro(hat) on... its super cute and I'v saved enough money for us to go to Vegas last year, We had a great time and the money I didnt end up spending I up back into the pig and am saving for our next vacation!
