How Long After Graduation Should SAT Scores Matter?

Feb 26 2014 - 3:53pm

If you think your high school years are behind you, think again. Apparently the past can come back to haunt you, at least when you're job hunting.

These days, prospective employers still want to see your SAT scores, says the Wall Street Journal [1]. Althought checking the scores of fresh-faced grads is a given, some companies are still checking the scores of middle-aged candidates. The incentive for using the score to gauge candidates is the fact that it's another data point for them to judge applicants by and the fact the tests are standardized. WSJ says, "SATs and other academic artifacts remain relevant in part because they are easy — if imperfect — metrics for hiring managers to understand."

What do you think: how long after graduation should SAT scores count when you're applying for jobs?
