Did You Follow Through With Your 2008 Resolutions?

The New Year offers a clean slate for renewing goals or committing to new ones. We're most likely to succeed in following through with our resolutions if we create a realistic plan of action, whether the motivation is getting out of debt or getting a new job. How did you do with your '08 resolutions?

I don't make New Year's Resolutions. I set goals for myself throughout the year. But I don't lump them all together on Dec. 31 as one big list to start on Jan. 1.

About 5 years ago, I made a rather ambitious New Years Resolution about how many times my husband and I were going to have sex per month in the new year. Now once I decide to do something I am very stubborn and refuse to give up. I am now much more careful about what I say I'm going to do, because by August or September, I think even my husband was tired of my resolution. But we did it!! Then I think we took a 3 month break. LOL!!!!

Yes, but that's because my BF and I don't make the dreaded kind of resolutions such as "save more money!" "eat healthier" "lose five pounds!", because we KNOW we ought to do those things, and who wants to start a new year focusing on the negative? Instead, we lifted an idea from his parents, in which we make a list of things we'd like to do together during the year, like taking weekend trips, trying out a new restaurant, taking a walk in a park once a week during the warmer months, seeing a new movie once a month... things like that. We're pretty poor, so we loved the idea his parents had to make an activity list and budget for the next year. Plus, it's a lot more fun and easier to stick to than an exercise regimine or diet. :D

I did and I'm proud of myself for sticking with it. I made realistic goals, put them on paper and put them where I saw them everyday. I ran a 5K, I lost weight and got healthier, I'm managing my money better and I bought a house. 2008 was a good year

My husband and I tried like hell to get out of debt and be in a house of our own by Christmas, guess what? We would have made it if it hadn't been for that da*n mortgage crisis. Now they are making us jump through hoops, and it's really making me mad.

Well, my main resolution was to get a job and to get myself out of some legal trouble I had gotten into. And I accomplished both of them! One of my other minor resolutions was to be more adventurous with my husband in the sack, but that one sort of fell through. Maybe I'll make that my 09 resolution, lol.

i didn't actually make a resolution for 2008 - i don't really believe in them to be honest. i just know what i hope to accomplish but i'm not going to call it out as a resolution cause then you're just setting yourself up to fail.

I'm a year-round resolution maker so I don't sweat the calendar changing resolution stuff. I think I do make a resolution each year but never remember what it is I'm so busy making many improvements. I find that the best time, for me, to make really life changing resolutions is to do it on my birthday instead. That's a REAL change of a year.
