Dating in the Office

Would You Engage in an Office Romance?

We see office romances on TV all the time, on shows like The Office and Mad Men. I have friends who met their significant others through work, but I've personally never met a special someone on the job. Are you open to office romance or is this a big no-no for you?

I didn't like the idea but briefly dated a coworker last year, but we work in different departments and completely different buildings and actually never run into each other at work unless there are after-work drinks. Now we're not really speaking for various reasons, but the most surprising bit was several of my female friends from work at the time randomly stopped speaking to me - made me realise work IS like junior school! Also, while I was upset when things ended I still kicked myself not to be awkward around him, and he was a real jerk (chatting one day, ignoring me the next...). So I'd probably give work dating another try if I really really liked the person, but I'll be real careful about it - I've learnt my lesson.

I don't think I could say no to a real attraction. But if I felt sort of "eh", I'd skip it.Years ago I dated a coworker. We thought we were SO sly, that no one knew. Found out later that basically everyone knew

My favorite ex started as a co-worker. You meet people where you meet them, and likely have things in common with a co-worker in your chosen field.

It depends, what I say is never date someone you work with every day. If you have a large office with different sections and departments then its ok.

I work with all women...so no. But even if I didn't, I don't think I ever would.

I never would. I'm all about keeping my work and personal lives separate. And to be completely honest, I like having the chance to miss my husband while I'm at work -- makes coming home that much sweeter.
