If you'd like to honor the men and women who have served our country or are in the process of doing so, one way of giving back is to donate to a charity that supports our troops. Many military charities exist, but these five have been rated as some of the most efficient organizations. Can't afford to donate? Visit your local veteran's hospital for volunteer opportunities.

Another one is www.AnyMarine.com *(you can replace Marine with Soldier, Sailor, or Airman)*. Deployed service members can go on these sites and list things that they need while they are gone, and civilians can either send packages of what has been asked for to specific service members or just donate some money to the site and the people who run the site use the money to send other stuff to the service members!

Thanks, Savvy for posting charities that are rated at least a 3/4 stars on Charity Navigator. It's good to know that charities are actually donating the bulk of donations towards their missions, not to overhead.
