An entrepreneur and billionaire from Beijing bought $500,000 of wine from London's Antique Wine Company, which gives the anonymous buyer a record of paying the highest price ever for a single lot of wine. While this is certainly remarkable, I know most of us could think of several more immediate uses for that amount of cash. But this mystery oenophile's story did get me thinking about records that we all hold in our own consumer pasts. Can you remember the most you paid for certain items like a meal, a bottle of wine, a must-have pair of heels, hug-you-in-only- the-right places jeans, or that you'd-be-crazy-not to cocktail dress?
