When sports contracts are signed, no one knows if the giant bags of gold are worth it, but owners bank on a player's stats, hype, and skills and everyone gets lucky when a team assembles the right roster and makes it to the final championship. It's just the same as us regular folk getting hired, only our salaries look like chump change in comparison and we don't have 100 million people watching our biggest projects of the year. So what did this year's lucky players from the Colts and Saints pull in last year? Take this quiz and find out!
Question 1 of 6
How much was running back Reggie Bush's total salary with the New Orleans Saints in 2009?
The weekend's here and we're all celebrating our well-deserved days off (and the Super Bowl!)— but we're not about to blow our budgets doing it. You've been savvy and smart all week long when it comes to spending, so keep it up over the weekend. Enjoy the big weekend with friends and family — you don't have to spend a fortune — just be sure to keep an eye on expenses with our saving tips.
Make this the weekend you quit an unnecessary expense — If you didn't cut an unnecessary discretionary expense at the start of the new year, it's not too late to do it now. If your budget could use some shaping up, or just a quick boost, kick one of your bad spending habits and say goodbye to the excess spending this weekend.
Opt for inexpensive entertainment — The Super Bowl is the perfect opportunity to lay low and hang home this weekend. Instead of heading out to a bar, host a potluck for the big game — Yum's got your recipes covered. Drinks are cheaper (especially when friends BYOB) and you're guaranteed a better view of the game at home.
Shop warehouse clubs for the best buys — If you're shopping for the big game, be sure you're getting your money's worth by hitting up discount warehouses for the best prices on items in bulk — and beyond.

In a new health benefits program offered by Whole Foods, employees who don't smoke and have a low body mass index (BMI), low blood pressure and cholesterol are about to be rewarded for their good health. On the flip side, that means the new initiative, aimed to promote a healthy lifestyle, will offer fewer rewards and a lower discount to employees who don't meet the company's health criteria.
I'm all for a workplace that recognizes and fosters healthy living, but as Fit points out, the "healthy" requirements employees must meet are a little suspect — not to mention an invasion of privacy. Keep in mind, employees can opt out of the new program, but their current employee discount of 20 percent is even less than the bronze-ranked employee discount (22 percent) under the new program. So what do you think? Is this initiative a step in a healthier direction or does a program like this seem inappropriate in the workplace?
"Last-minute" trips are so often cheaper that the descriptor has become synonymous with savings, before cost is even mentioned. Likewise, renting a property versus a hotel stay can net you even more cash back. Add both bargain types together and meet the new site PackLate.com.
Visitors can save at least 10 percent on travel plans made between two and three weeks before departure, and then the price plummets as the trip nears. The site advises "Be careful not to wait too long and let someone steal your deal!" and certain rates that end soon have a ticking clock, eBay-style. I can see advantages of this process (over Craigslist, for example) since it cuts out the middleman and seems more secure, booking-wise.
Since the site just launched on Feb. 4, it's not surprising that there are limited locations offered at this point. I know I'll be checking back in the coming months, will you?
