Last week, many of you thought that Starbucks' removal of organic milk from their menu wasn't the best move for the company. As part of Starbucks' efforts to identify with its customers, they've been experimenting in the Seattle area selling a $1 "short brew" with free refills. A company spokeswoman says that it isn't part of any business strategy, but it sure seems strategic to cut the eight-ounce short size price by one third (it usually costs about $1.50). If this is the start of Starbucks shaking off their expensive rep, I'm all for it.

Now that's something they need to do everywhere. Considering most of their sales come from fancy drinks (based on anecdotal evidence) this helps people like me that just like to go study and get some regular coffee. Refills don't need to be free though. They could still charge 50% for the refill and I'd be ok.
Truthfully, I don't understand Starbuck's popularity. At the various Starbucks I patroned in the past, I found that they over-roast and burn their beans. Their coffee taste like carbon. Needless to say, I don't go to Starbucks anymore, and it's not about the price.
I find that Coffee Bean and Pete's Coffee have better quality control when it came to roasting their beans. JMHO.
This would be great...if their coffee tasted good.
I went a few times and it's nothing special, unless you want to use up your daily calories on one caramel macchiato!
Have a Mocha Latte sitting in front of me. Knowing I was going to have a bad day in the office today, I figured I would spoil myself.
I don't get regular coffee, so this doesn't affect me. I know when I go how much I am going to spend, and that its a treat. I don't drink coffee very often. Im a juice or milk girl.
ooo i'm lovin' this move
Gross, I can't stand Starbucks' overpriced, crappy coffee. I wouldn't even pay $1 to drink it.
hmmm but is that only for the regular coffee? i can't drink coffee unless it's loaded with sugar and chocolate and frothiness. lol
This is a good move on their part since they have been losing money and closing stores.
LaLaLaurie-Agreed! I wish it applied to cappuccino, latte, etc. I don't drink regular coffee, so this makes me sad.
nice move
Sounds good!
Sometimes their smallest size is still too big for me (the same size in Europe would probably be called x-large). I prefer drinking a few small cups than one giant cup.
I love Starbucks coffee, iced coffee, lattes, hot cocoa. Sometimes when I'm in a rush I go to Dunkin Dounuts and grab a mocha iced coffee however while it is really good, Starbucks coffee just has a stronger and more flavor-full brew.
P.s forgot to add that this new dollar coffee sounds interesting; I hope it comes to CT.
Sadly, I quit coffee.
Those Frapps could come down a buck or two too. They are sooo yum
I love this idea! I'd go much more often.
Interesting. I hope this hits Michigan as many people would love to take advantage of this offer. I dislike straight coffee and espresso; I love White Mocha Lattes, which are best made at Starbucks, IMHO. I wonder it they'll ever offer anything similar for their specialty drinks.
