Many offices are closed today in recognition of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. But just because you're not in the office doesn't mean you're not putting in hours. So tell me, do you usually work on your days off?

Nope. Not unless I really have something important to do that can't wait until the next day.
I enjoy my "me" time!
1I don't do an ounce of work on my days off
2About 3 times a year on a big deadline. My boss will stay with me all night until we get the work done together. Its usually when our drawings are due.
3Damn BlackBerry. I'm always responding to at least one email or answering some call or another!
4There are always those things that never seem to get done. Today I had the day off but I spent it either taking care of house stuff that needed to get done and studying. I didn't schedule anything on purpose so that I could have the time to do these things. Wish I could have another day like today.
5i do NOTHING work related on my days off!
6Guilty as charged.
7wish i could but there's no rest in the film industry
8Since my work was into events and marketing campaigns, working on days-off is inevitable. But once after the project or event is over, I and my team were always treated by our company with a 5 to 7 days off after to recharge for another project/event/campaign.
9day off?!?!
10F*CK NO I don't work on my day off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
11I usually say 'Heck no' but today, I am sadly working. On my day off.
12I work 7 days a week, so this is kind of a trick question since there is no "off" day. I'm a scientist. A lot of the time, I'm physically in the laboratory 7 days a week because my experiments require it. If I do get a weekend out of the lab, I'm always reading papers and analyzing data from home. Truthfully, I cannot remember the last day I didn't do something laboratory related. It's been at least 2 years...
13I'm hoping on my honeymoon to at least get some time off, but I know I'll have a paper to push through for publication right around that time, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if I have to work on it while I'm "off". Spending a honeymoon doing work sucks, but hopefully I'll be able to limit it to 1 hour a day and I can do it in the morning when the new hubby is sleeping in.
Ditto, julieulie. That's why on the days I don't have any bench work happening, I make it a point to stay home, even if I'm still reading papers. I figure if I work almost every Saturday, it's okay if I'm home on a Tuesday. Weekends and holidays have no meaning anymore.
14No, i do not work on my day off
15My dad is the owner of the company, so my life pretty much revolves around it!
16Sigh, I wish I had yesterday off. I'll only work if absolutely necessary for a few hours on my days off.... and I make sure they are documented very well so I'll get paid overtime for it.
17Not always, but I do when I need to. I LOVE gotomypc.com. Enables guilt free sick days
18No! In these days when emotional stress and burnt-outs is more common than the flu, I think it is important with boundary setting.
I choose to not work on my days off, even if I know the management "expect" it. I just tell them na-ah!
19These days, yes. Tax season. Boo.
20A scheduled holiday... I will sometimes work if I have stuff to catch up on or organize.
A vacation day... I don't work at all but field phone calls from time to time.
21I dont even remember when my days off are supposed to be. Actually, I dont even know the last time I had a day off.
22I don't work on my days off, although we didn't get MLK day off so I worked.
23I'm a lucky gal with a job that doesn't require work at home! I'm an assistant video editor (basically, I'm a video editor, I just am pretty new & don't do the BIG edits. I DO edit everyday). When I leave my job, I get to LEAVE my work!
24I've been on-call 24/7 for most of the last 9 years. It's just the way things go in my field.
25No way, I need my time off.
26in the words of the ever eloquent Whitney Houston, HELL TO THE NO!
27Most of the time I try not to - but that darn BlackBerry gets you everytime!!
28My job stays in the office and never comes home with me, on a day off or on any evening after work.
I grew up with a workaholic father and saw the severe disadvantages of working while not in the office. He was always irritable and exhausted; my mother and I were constantly ignored in favor of "just answering one more e-mail."
No thanks to that. If I have time off, I'm taking full advantage of it.
29h-e-double hockey sticks
30down time is good for the soul
and necessary for a fresh mind
but i'm sure some jobs out there require it
I need the time off from work to catch up on my work from graduate school!
