Whether it’s your first or your 50th, job interviews are nerve-wracking experiences. And no matter how conscious you are of not letting that nervousness show, sometimes there’s nothing you can do about it.
Several friends have told me they have nervous tics that only come out in interviews: one friend’s nose starts to run uncontrollably, another becomes compulsive about pushing her hair away from her face, a third laughs at inappropriate times. Personally, I pick at my fingernails when I’m anxious during an interview.
Do you experience this phenomenon? What’s your nervous interview tic?

I feel like my lips are dry, so I want to lick them, then I think it's weird to lick my lips in an interview...
1I talk with my hands a lot, and then notice the interviewer staring at my hands hahha
2I'm a hair pusher, so now I just wear it back to keep myself still.
3Truthfully, I don think I have any. I'm comfortable with interviews. I like them. Nutty, I know.
4I laugh and smile way too much,lol. I have to remind myself not to look like a demented nut,lol.
5I start gnawing on the inside of my cheek when they ask me questions. I'm not sure why, but it's just something I do when I'm nervous. Normally I chew gum, but during an interview I don't.
6I also tend to pick at my fingernails. It's a bad habit that I'm working on!
7I smile too much and never know where to look so I think I look more nervous than I am.
8Haha. These make me laugh! I usually parrot something the interviewer said, like "thats how I roll" or something stupid like that.
9I've started wringing my hands, gotta stop!
10I also bite the inside of my cheek. Normally I would bite my nails, but that is inappropriate for an interview, right?
11I swivel the chair from side to side if it's a swiveling chair. Otherwise I think I'm pretty good. Fortunately I've gotten better about trailing off mid-sentence.
12*sigh* I just say the dumbest stuff and I go back and think "Why did I say that?!? What a geek!!"
13Oh man. I'm definitely a bad nail picker. I also will destroy any piece of paper that's in my hands. And I talk too fast. Haha. Interviews...
