It seems there are a couple of key trends for Halloween this year — thanks to Twilight, True Blood, and TV's other vampy dramas, vampires are hot this season. But, another major trend just may be savvy Halloween spending. While Halloween last year seemed an ideal opportunity to escape economic woes, a year later — and a year wiser — more people are practicing smarter spending when it comes to celebrating Halloween traditions.
According to a recent survey, Halloween shoppers are planning to spend an average of $56.31, down $10 from last year. Even among 18-24 year-olds, who are typically Halloween's big partiers — and spenders — projected spending is down nearly $20.
Though Bloomberg reports that people are less likely to celebrate Halloween at all this year, remember that being budget-conscious doesn't mean that you have to quit the festivities all together. So, tell me, do you have any saving tricks for making this Halloween a more wallet-friendly treat?

I always buy my costumes a year ahead of time in November when they are on sale. You get a better deal
I now just have to buy the finishing touches
1I'm going to make a costume out of stuff I already have; I have enough random clothes that I should be able to find something good. And I have a ton of make-up and know a little bit about special effects make-up, so I'm sure I can make something work out.
2I shopped at goodwill and only spent 15 dollars. Last year I spent 60..
3I make my kids' costumes, out of $1 a yard fabric I get at Wal-Mart! Easy! And I buy candy at the 99-cent store.
4I have to work on Halloween
I'm planning on wearing my bright orange scrubs and putting eye
makeup on to look like I have a black eye...I'm going to be a Taycheedah Prison Inmate, LOL. It's kind of an inside joke at work.
Also, I never buy any Halloween candy until about the day or two before trick or treating day because I don't want to be tempted to eat it all. That way, you only buy what you need and don't end up spending money on candy that gets eaten before Halloween gets here.
5I'm with Spectra on the candy thing.
And I usually throw a costume together with stuff I already have. And I think one of my friends usually throws a party and asks everyone to just bring a beverage. Makes things much cheaper
