Usually when October hits, I'm in a panic just trying to get my Halloween costume together. But this year, as retailers start to gear up for the holiday shopping season, I'm wondering, why not follow suit?
According to recent Wal-Mart research, 70 percent of the store's customers plan to start shopping for holiday items before Halloween, so it's no wonder that the company has already announced its holiday spending incentive — a deal that offers a list of 100 toys for just $10 each. With discounts like this already available, it's starting to seem more appealing to hit the stores now and avoid the rush closer to the holidays in December. Another incentive to start thinking holiday shopping now? Setting money for gifts aside now can make a big difference in just a couple months. With cash already stored up, you're less likely to run up a major credit card bill later.
I'll admit, it takes a lot of energy and effort to start planning for your holiday shopping now, but it seems to me there's a big pay off for the early birds. What do you think? Will these incentives get you planning ahead for the holiday season?

Sort of.
1Yes, I try to leave the house as little as possible starting on Black Friday.
2no way! i was at macy's yesterday and they were setting up the christmas decorations. i was shocked. but then i realized that they usually put them up in mid-september, so that made me feel a little bit better.
3i won't buy everything but if i see stuff, i'll start picking it up...i already have one present tucked away
4I've already got everything picked out for what I'm going to get everybody. I buy one gift a paycheck. I started doing this three years ago and it has become so cost effective.
5Yeah, kind of...I'm ordering a lot of stuff from LTD for presents this year, so I'm picking things out for my order. I pretty much know what I'm buying for people, now I just wait until the stuff I want is on sale before I actually buy it.
6kismekate, that is a brilliant idea ! way to avoid the cc !
7I buy Christmas presents all year long, whenever I see something that I think someone would like.
8Im always the person who does the christmas shopping the day before
9It's too early to start thinking about the holidays. But I will buy if I see something worthwhile.
10Kind of. I've already ordered a gift for Grandma. I just gotta figure out where to hide it till Christmas. I'll probably try to get small things for the family. I tend to stay family only with the gifts, with the exception of any parties I go to.
11I don't really do too many Christmas gifts. Mostly homemade treats and love!
