It takes up a little bit of room, but buying a shredder is a smart use of your money and space. You've heard the horror stories about identities stolen because of careless disposal of things like credit card offers and bank account statements. A shredder can help you avoid trouble, protect yourself, and keep your table junk-mail-free.
I like to destroy the necessary envelopes as I go through the mail to prevent clutter and save time. You can purchase a shredder from any office supply store and they run as low as $50. Is shredding part of your routine?

I'm a bit compulsive about shredding. I shred junk mail right after I open it.
1where can I find the shredder that is pictured?
2I'd also like to know where I could buy that shredder.
We have a small waste basket by the front door. Junk mail doesn't make it any further than that. My parents have a shredder so I take it to their house once a week and it's getting to be a real hassle.
3I bought one without a waste bin attached for $12 at Target. It's not as aesthetically appealing as the one in the picture but it does the job.
4The shredders pictured are sold by Staples and cost $100. Pretty steep for a shredder, but if it's out in the open and you're concerned about its appearance, it could be a good option.

5Those are cute, but $100 is a bit much to spend on a shredder. I also don't have a lot of room to host one, so I use shredding scissors. It's a little more of a hand workout, but easier to store.
6I shred anything with my name, address, or any personal information on it. All receipts get shredded. It makes me feel much safer.
7Yep - too steep at $100. I do however have the one that sweetpea mentions - a shredder without a bin under it. I keep it in my desk drawer, it comes out once a week, and I throw it over my regular wastepaper basket, plug it in, and shred away.
8I just bring my stuff to work to shred it.
9i definitely agree with this one. for the past few months - i've been bringing stuff to the office to shred since i'm paranoid about someone stealing my personal information.
10We picked up an awesome shredder at an auction...I think we paid $3 for it and it'll shred just about anything you give it. We always shred CC offers and other personal info just to be on the safe side.
