It came as no surprise when I learned that Virgin America was voted Best Domestic Airline by Travel and Leisure readers, and that's not just because the airline won the same award last year. The World's Best Awards survey asks participants to rate airlines in several categories, including cabin comfort, food, in-flight service, customer service, and value.
The airline has rarely fallen short in any of these areas during the countless times I've been a passenger on one of its flights. Unless you count the time a flight attendant wouldn't stop hitting on my husband, but we'll just call that an overly-friendly one-time experience (some people might even give brownie points for that). Virgin was followed by JetBlue for the spot as second best domestic airline.
Have you ever been a Virgin America passenger? Do you think it lives up to the title?

Nine West
flew with virgin america in MAY JFK to SFO r/t excellent service
1I flew Virgin America in June and the phone support was terrible. My flight was canceled approximately twelve hours prior to takeoff, and I was put on one leaving nearly twelve hours later. My requests to change to another flight or a flight very similar to my original going to a nearby airport were denied, and the only offer I was given was to cancel and rebook at a price that was by then three times what it had been the day before.
To their credit the service at the airport and during the flight was exceptional, but I've never experienced anything quite like the 45 minute conversation I had with their customer service line and am quite hesitant to fly with them again.
United agents can be rude, but I'll take getting to my destination on time over nicer planes.
