I've never had this actually happen to me, actually. Every time I use a walk-up ATM, I'm the only one there. If someone were standing behind me in line too closely, I would definitely say
something though.
I have actually had to say something to people who are in line behind me at the store where you have to type your PIN on the keyboard...I usually politely ask if the person could step back a
little for my financial privacy. That usually works.
This hasn't happened to me either, though I'd definitely say something. And I once saw someone steal a woman's purse and run off while she was leaving an ATM, and ever since then, I always
get out my pepper spray whenever I go (about once a month or so).
No, I've never had someone stand too close. However, if I'm suspicious of anybody, I would leave. I would not bother to use the ATM, or stick around an ATM with my ATM card (in case the
person holds me up and forces me to withdraw money).
Usually the people here are really, really respectful and always stand a good distance away from the person withdrawing, even if the line is long. There was once a woman who was standing way
too close, as in breathing down my neck, but she wasn't doing it on purpose, she was just an obnoxious human being to begin with. I kind of turned and looked her pointedly but she didn't get
the hint so I said "Do you mind?"
No never has happened. I cannot stand when people stand so close at the store when you are swiping your card, I usually give a nasty look and that normally works.

allow her in.. I simply said "excuse me, the line starts THERE", gave her my back, stood really close to the ATM (my sister was next to me so she helped me cover, hehe) and I finished my
transaction and left.
Yeah I would, but I haven't had to. But once when I was in line at the dollar store, a guy literally had his face right on my shoulder. My dad was with me and I didn't want him to pound the
guy, so I just turned around and said "can you back up?" He just looked at me but moved back.
I think it's a matter of where you're from that you get an idea of personal space. Outside of America I've heard that people stand really close, so I can't really say the guy was rude, but
maybe he just didn't realize that we don't stand that close here.

3One time my husband walked away from an ATM. He didnt like the look of the street or some of the people in line there.
