Eating fast food from American chains while on an overseas vacation isn't my idea of an ideal meal. Besides missed opportunities to test local cuisine, buying fast food in other countries won't necessarily cut your food costs.
Consulting firm Mercer selected 20 geographically diverse cities and compared the cost of an average hamburger meal. Can you guess how much the average fast food meal costs internationally?

1wow, 0/5. And I ate at McDonalds in Paris! BTW, not all fast food is equal. My BF and I got tired of eating ham and cheese baguettes and ham and cheese crepes for cheap street food, so we ate at McDonalds, just once. The fries, are crazy good. And they serve it with a garlic aioli sauce! The food standards are much higher in Fr than in the US, and it shows...even at McDonalds.
23/5 not bad! I've also eaten at McD's in Paris and in Spain, and for some reason it tastes better than back in the states. That was the last time I had McD's, and that was almost 5 years ago!
3I agree with tarabara1229. McD's in Paris is a lot better than here in North America.
4When I was in Central America with my mom, it seemed like most of the fast food places were Wendy's. Not sure why, exactly, but the prices were pretty comparable to the US prices. The sizes were different though...you could get a really tiny 8 ounce Frosty, which I thought was great since I usually only want a small amount. I didn't really eat at Wendy's much because I went to the little restaurants that served pupusas, which I promptly became addicted to, LOL.
5A $9.16 meal in Dublin is the most expensive fast food in the world? We normally between $14.00 and $16.00 for a meal when we go to McDonald's or Burger King here in Norway. Norway has the most expensive Big Mac in the world according to the Big Mac Index...
62/5, I never eat at fast food places when I travel. Wow, Finn - why is the cost so much?
7High cost of living. Norway has one of the highest GDP per-capita in the world and the country is extremely rich because of the petroleum industry.
8Finn, thanks for answering.
91/5
10I thought I'd do better. Perhaps if I travel more.
