Fireworks displays on the Fourth of July aren't a given anymore. Officials in several cities have canceled this year's shows, reasoning they can't justify the cost while government-funded services and jobs are being cut. Does it matter to you whether or not your Fourth includes a colorful fireworks display?

I don't care about them, but my daughter thought they were the coolest things last year. They're free to look at and she talked about them 'til Christmas time, so I love them for that!
1I don't care much for them anymore, only because it seems like they're just not that cool anymore. Back when I was a kid I thought they were awesome, but now it's like, "Wow, another smiley-face or fountain". Plus, they scare my dog too much for me to really enjoy them. I almost like the little class C ones that you can set off yourself better...some of them are pretty cool and they're more hands-on.
2I think the fireworks are a tradition and I like them a lot. I'm not going to NOT live in a city just because firewroks are all but, seeing them once a year in the most patriotic day is always nice.
3i said i didn't care because the city doesn't throw them. i went on my friends' roof last night and saw about 8 different sets. i guess that's the advantage of living in a big city - i live in san diego - and being able to count on Sea World's fireworks display year round.
4I love fireworks, but they don't have to be done by the city. Every year when I was a kid we'd watch them at the high school and they'd collect donations for the next year's. There may have been a cost to the city in terms of extra police, but I think that's it.
