Summer is the season for blockbusters, so it won't be surprising if you and I find ourselves forking over cash for a movie or two. Have you ever wondered what your money for those pricey tickets actually pays for? In its July issue, Money magazine breaks down the average $9 ticket for a typical movie with an all-star cast and uses Public Enemies as an example. Find out where your money goes when you take the quiz!

Tickets are typically $11 for a show @ night. Or $10 w/ student discount.
1To add to that... that price is for where I'm at.. I wish they were only $9 for my area.
2not many places do student discounts anymore, except on a random weeknight, like a tuesday
3I buy my movie tickets at Costco. They're 7.50 a piece
4Wow I did horribly! 1/4 I was shocked to see that the cinema gets about 1/2 the ticket price! It seems a little much to me
5$9?! thats not bad compared to the $12.50 here in NYC
6I like this quiz, but it seems like it would be so much easier to understand this if they did it with a $10 ticket - then we could look at it as simple percentages!
7We pay $6-7 for a matinee now. I don't even remember what the ticket price is for a regular show but I know the last time I went my boyfriend, he paid with a $20 and I think he got change back!
8Yep, symphonee. You probably went at night. At our movie theater, $9.75 per adult in the evening, so you'd get back .50 cents from a $20!
I had always heard that the theater gets the smallest percentage back from the ticket sales, and that that's why the concession prices are so high, because they make hardly any money from the tickets themselves. So I was surprised to see the highest percentage goes to them!
9WOW. I was under the impression that the theaters make next to nothing and they always moan that the only way they make money is concessions!! But according to this, almost half the admission price goes to them! I'll feel less guilty with those M&Ms in my purse this weekend.
102/5 was expected from a person who guessed all the answers
11but $9 is alot I get the military discount
Wow, I had no idea! TIckets are $10 where I live.
