Jackson multiplied his money with the purchase of ATV Music Publishing (owner of copyrights to the words and music of 251 Beatles songs) for $47.5 million. Sony bought half of ATV in 1995 for the small price of $150 million.
The Wall Street Journal estimates the partnership of Sony/ATV Music Publishing is now worth more than $1 billion.
