i'd add yosemite to this list! gorgeous and totally affordable! i'm going for a week this july. i've already gone before for a week, and i still feel like there's more to do and see there!
1Vail, CO is awesome in the summer--free parking all summer, festivals, great food at summer-discount prices, a terrific pedestrian village and fun night-life! We just went last weekend and had a BLAST and paid a fraction of the cost of ski-season lodging and meals!
2Drive down the Oregon coast and down CA's. Lots of beautiful sights in each state and so many things to do.
I love exploring and finding new places to enjoy.
3I don't know that these are "affordable".. Certainly not in season for places like Block Island, Rhode Island or Nantucket, MA.. they are very pricey and you wouldn't want to go there in the off season.. Glacier park is affordable but getting there costs an arm and a leg. I have gone to Mexico and Jamaica for cheaper than a trip to Key West. So yes these locations might be rejuvenating for your mind, but I suspect not necessarily for your wallet.
