Some couples search for a destination that exudes romance, others prefer to bond as newlyweds by embarking on an adventure-focused honeymoon, and some are determined to find a perfect balance of the two. And let's face it — some newly married couples simply want to relax in a beautiful place. While affordability is important in reality, I'm wondering where you'd go if cost wasn't a factor. What's your ultimate honeymoon?

a european tour (esp italy, france, spain, grece) or a tropical destination like turks and caicos or hawaii. i havent really had a honeymoon yet although weve been married almost 4 years because ive had constant school but i intend on doing either of the above or both next year after grafuation
Oh wow, probably somewhere like Bali or the Maldives. Or, like pharm_chick said a European tour with the countries that she named also adding Ireland and England. My husband and I just got married on May 9th, and we didn't get to go on a honeymoon, so anywhere would be great.
My b/f and I would love to spend at least a month trekking through most of Asia: India, China, Korea, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Japan, the Philippines, Taiwan, Indonesia, etc. That would be so expensive though.
My dream destination is Bora Bora, but instead after we get married this year we will be heading to Spain, flying to Madrid and then renting a car and touring around a bit mainly in the south-eastern region.
Italy.
I'd love to go to Spain and go around the country and visit all the little villages and hit all the big cities as well. The food and wine would be amazing and it's such a gorgeous country.
one of my favorite places... kauai. rent a cute little house, it would be amazing.
New Zealand. Beach adventures and winter adventures year round, all packed in one tiny island.
GREECE!
We wanted to go to Tahiti/Bora Bora, but for the type of trip we wanted, it was prohibitively expensive... so we'll go for a 5 or 10 year anniversary trip. Instead, we went to Greece for 3 weeks. Length of time we could afford to stay was more important for us than location, since we are in a long-distance marriage.
greece! we're going to do it right after our wedding next year. we've been talking about going since we started dating 6 years ago.
julieulie, do you have any suggestions for us?
Carhorns - Spend as much time as you can in Santorini! It was our favorite, by FAR. Unless you love big cities, you only need to do 2 days in Athens to see the Acropolis and a few museums -- we live in big city, so we didn't feel the need to do any more than that. We also went to Crete and Mykonos. If you want any specific information (hotels, transportation, etc.), send me a message!
I have always wanted to go to Japan & South Korea, but I think we are going to go to South Pacific/Australia for our honeymoon. My fiancé's parents live in the Philippines, so we would probably take some extra time to go there to visit them if they can't make it to the wedding. We live on the east coast, so that would be a long trip!
Actually, my REAL dream trip would be to go to Dubai, but thats not a honeymoon trip!
Seychelles!
Ireland or Italy. I'd like to visit New Zealand too
we went to aspen (february) and it was great. but , at that point in your relationship how could any vacation be a poor choice? you just got married, you're excited about the future, opening gifts, having parties, etc. it's all good.
Everyone's dream trips sounds amazing!
We've already done Europe together. So considering cost and time available, we're hitting Costa Rica for the delayed honeymoon this fall. But first...a trip to the East Coast to visit each of our grandmothers. Neither his nor mine could make it to the wedding, so we're going to see them for a week, then head directly off to CR!
julieulie - I second you on Santorini! It's perhaps one of the most beautiful places I've been to. In fact, I was just telling a bride-to-be to consider that as her honeymoon destination!
Get a room that looks out to the caldera in Fira/Thira. You'll be waking up to breathtaking views right out of your balcony. We spent hours on our balcony just staring out there. People say Oia/Ia is quiet and romantic, but really, Fira isn't that loud and it's convenient to the shops and restaurants.
There are so many places I want to visit that I don't know where to start! I'm happy with any trip.
South Africa. I want to go on a boat tour, get in a dive cage and watch Great Whites leap out of the water off False Bay.
Bora Bora - in one of the fabulous bungalows out over the water where breakfast is served via canoe. That was the dream (and will still happen for an anniversary at some point). We ended up in St. Lucia and loved it. I agree w/ the others about Greece. Can't wait to hit the whole Mediterranean area. The list is long... not enough time or money to see all the places of which I dream.
I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to do a ticket around the world and go to all the romantic spots... alas I have no money or time to do such.
I'm from The Netherlands myself but my dream holiday would be a tour all around Scandinavia in a mini van. Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway. Camping and sleeping under the stars in a little van, discovering new beautiful places we've never been before . Very simple and not too expensive but it's my dream honeymoon. Hotels, beaches, sun and doing nothing is just not us.
Hawaii! I'd lobe to go to Hawaii - that's been one of my dreams for as long as I can remember. Egypt would be really cool and as well would Thailand... honestly there's just too many lovely places to choose from so I'm happy I'm not choosing any time soon!
Daisy Doe - I'm from Denmark and I think you're idea is absolutely lovely, I'd like a trip like that myself! Great idea!
oh, Brenna, my husband and I did the same thing...toyed with Bora Bora for a few months until the travel agent showed us Ladera in St. Lucia - being that neither of us had ever actually been to the Caribbean, it was a much easier and more affordable trip...then we hopped over to Grenada, which we loved even more...it was all just incredible...still hoping for that Bora Bora over-water bungalow someday, though
I had my dream honeymoon, we went to Australia for 3 weeks. We had a small wedding since it was the second time for both of us so we splurged but it was well worth it.
greece.
We just got back from our honeymoon in Hawaii . . . absolutely perfect.
Greek Islands! I've known that forever but I have no idea where I got that from.
I can't make up my mind. I've never seen Lake Como or Venice. How about South Africa or South America or Thailand? And then I saw someone mention one of those Bungalow houses over the ocean in Tahiti. Wow. Doesn't a canoe of native men wearing lai's paddle up to your room with breakfast in the morning? I could live with that.
Hmm. How about a 365-day trip around the world? A girl can dream, can't she?
