It's hard to pass judgment on a career you haven't had, but forget education, relevant experience, and interview contacts for a second. Which career do you think is cooler?

A bartender. You make crazy money on tips and the drinks are a lot more fun to make. Plus, I'm not much of a wine person, so being a sommelier just doesn't appeal to me much.
1I rather be a certified Sommelier for a string of restaurants and hotels. I generally don't like bar scene unless the venue is classy.
2I'd rather be a Sommelier even though I'm not huge on wine, the major reason being that I've been to bars where drunk guys have tried to hit on more female bartenders, and putting myself in those shoes, I would probably come off as b*tchy and get fired.
3Sommelier's must pass stringent exams on wine and service. Most of them make more money than your average bartender... although they most likely spent countless pennies on wine, books and exams to get them where they are.
4Sommelier, it's just classy...it's just sexy when someone knows what they're talking about....
5i kind of have to say bartender - cause i'm certified to be one. i still think that would be my preference though. i really do appreciate a person with GREAT wine knowledge, but i feel like there's an 'air' to the title that just makes it seem more auspicious and snobby than a 'bartender'. although, bartenders have their reputations too i suppose. i just like the variety in what i do as a bartender rather than knowing wine.
