I'm getting married on Sept. 26 and my fiancé and I are ready to start booking flights for our honeymoon to Thailand. In fact, we almost bought tickets last night when I thought about which last name I should use! I'm planning on taking my fiancé’s last name after we're married, but I'm not sure what name to use when making my honeymoon plans. Will I encounter any trouble if I book my tickets with my new last name?

The name on your tickets and reservations should match the name in your passport. It can take several weeks to receive copies of your marriage license, and then a couple more months to change your name on all of the necessary documents. So, if the name in your passport at the time of travel will be your maiden name, you should book the trip under your maiden name.
Waiting a few months to take your honeymoon? Most airlines will let you travel domestically with your driver's license in a maiden name along with a marriage license, but double check with the airline before you book under your married name that doesn't match your driver's license. Traveling internationally will naturally warrant additional scrutiny from security. Simply play it safe by traveling under your maiden name until your documents reflect your new married name.

If you are honeymooning RIGHT after your wedding, do EVERYTHING in your maiden name -- that's the name that will be on your license, passport, etc.
1haha yeah defi don't buy a plane ticket in a name that is not yours yet! if took us 3 weeks to get our marriage license back, and if you don't pay for "rush" on your new passport that will be several weeks also . . .
2My SIL's sister got married overseas exactly one week after she and my brother did. My dad tried advising this (getting a passport and traveling under her maiden name, and then getting the passport updated afterward), but she kept insisting on trying to figure out how to make it work to travel under her married name. I assume she finally caved to reality, but life is easier if you go with the easier, pragmatic approach on things like this.
3Changing your name on all your documents is such a pain in the rear. I changed everything as quickly as I could, but since we went on our honeymoon right after we got married, I did use my maiden name until I got back to change all my documents.
4Your name. You can't get documents quick enough. Make sure you bring copies of EVERYTHING though, just in case, including your marriage certificate.

Yeah, it's a little bit of a pain, but only because it's not instant and you have to wait for everything to get processed.
7In dealing with a recent family crisis, I had to travel to another state with my mom. We divided and conquered making travel arrangements, and my poor, frazzled mom accidentally bought me a plane ticket in my maiden name - and we didn't realize it until we were in line at the airport. I desperately dug into my purse and found an old college ID to match the ticket, and traveled across the country praying that would suffice and no one would ask any questions!
8But for destination, choose with care. in all the possible top honeymoon destinations in the world Hawaii should be on the list, this place is blessed with everything that's brilliant you can think of and of course, the romantic aroma is all everywhere.

10Yes, use your maiden name. I still use my maiden name when I travel and I was married three years ago. The reason being my passport is good for another ten years, and a new one is very expensive.
11So to save money I just use the old passport.
