If you'd like to honor the men and women who have served our country or are in the process of doing so, one way of giving back is to donate to a charity that supports our troops. Many military charities exist, but these five have been rated as some of the most efficient organizations. Can't afford to donate? Visit your local veteran's hospital for volunteer opportunities.

My name is Amelia M. White. I am an E-5 getting ready to deploy to Iraq with the 118th Medical Headquarters Detachment out of Connecticut. I am currently in FT Hood Texas on MOB preparing for
Iraq with my Unit.
My Unit has come up with an idea to promote a healthier and more active Soldier within our Unit. We came up with a contest similiar to the television show, "Biggest Loser". We have Soldiers
within our Unit who need to lose weight and we thought that making it into a contest with goals and/or prizes at the end would be very motivational. We are spanning this contest out to
approximately a year or however long our deployment goes on to.
I am writing and inquiring if there would be anything that you would like to donate to our Unit for these Soldiers and what the proper procedures to do this may be.
Our Unit does not have an actual address for our location in Iraq, but communications via e-mail are open until then and the duration as well. If there is anything our Unit can do for you,
please let me know.
