It's amazing what can be done with small spaces. Every year, Apartment Therapy holds a Smallest, Coolest Home Contest with five divisions that account for different definitions of small. The teeny-tiny division represents apartments with the least square-footage, in other words, seriously small. This year's division winner rents a 210-square foot abode on Manhattan's Upper West Side. Can you guess how much he pays in rent each month?

Robe Di Firenze
Tod's
Marni
Wow, can't believe I guessed right. That doesn't surprise me though.
So he lives in a closet? wow.
I always knew Manhattan prices were crazy - I guess I'm a little relieved this was cheaper than I thought. How many other places in the US would/could someone rent a place that small? (Although I did have a 300 sq ft apt when doing my master's, but I was only there to sleep on weekdays).
ouch!
I live in NYC and I still think he's an idiot for paying that much for that little space!
It's all about location, location, location....
w.o.w.
not surprised. a friend had a smaller & far less attractive place in LES for $1650. it's mind-boggling.
That's a wonderful tiny apartment. Love the color scheme and the fact that he was able to fit a decent-sized bed and a couch in there. But the price he's paying is eye-gouging.
typical Manhattan rent
Wow!
that's my mortgage for a 3/2 house in california!
ha thats almost what i pay for a small room in chelsea ... manhattan is crazy expensive!
wtf?!
i got it right, but the question's not descriptive enough (IMO)...bc any manhattanite knows that rent on 72 and CPW is much much more than, say 90th and Riverside -- both of which classify as UWS.
If that apartment were not in such a high demand neighbourhood, it would cost less.
It's cute though but I don't think I could live there fulltime.
I knew it would be a lot. I guessed the most expensive. Well I was close.
I guessed correctly. Recently, I've been discovering that Manhattan rents aren't as much as I once thought they were. You'd pay the same amount for a studio in a lot of D.C. neighborhoods.
Whoa, that's like twice my mortgage payment for a 3 bedroom 1800 square foot house and a 1200 square foot garage. No way in HELL would I pay that much for a tiny little apartment like that.
ugh i'm more than happy being part of the b&t crowd if it means i get an actual bedroom and living room. my place isn't large but i couldn't live in something his size!
My boyfriend and I pay 1,100 for a 3bdr 2car garage two story town house in northern illinois haha thats crazyy
It might be overpriced and small, but I really admire the guy for how he makes the space work for him.
Wow, he pays more than my roommates and I do for our 4 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom house in Portland, OR.
Insane. My 3 bedroom (almost 1,300 square feet w/ a full balcony) is less than half that here. He must never be there with all that bright white. Too sterile for me to enjoy.
manhattan is crazy expensive, but i love what's he's done with the space. Way to maximize what you've got!
In downtown Montreal, you can rent a 1160 sq. foot apartment (5 1/2) for $1100 CDN. Manhattan is nuts. My ex was renting one room in Harlem for $750US.
i live in manhattan and while that may seem like a high rent... the Upper West Side is a pretty cool neighbor. a lot of manhattanites (myself included) will sacrifice some space in order to just be apart of this magnificent city. that being said, this apartment is awesomely decorated. i want it.
oh Manhattan. You never cease to amaze in the lack of space you can get for an outrageous price.
This is why I don't live in NY. Waste of money.
You could live in Europe for cheaper.
