When only four items on a long grocery receipt are full-priced, you know that you've saved some good money on your grocery bill. This was the case with my most recent trip to Safeway, when nearly every item I bought was discounted from its normal price. Score. Can you guess how much some of my groceries cost? Take the quiz!

I would fail miserably at The Price is Right.
1i'm confused.... "Which of these items retails for the least money?" You said that the english muffins retail$3.99 but you bought them onsale for $2.50. So what price were you using when you came up with the right answer to this question? Because how are we supposed to know what was on sale or not? Especially since you used the word "retails" in the question.
2TidalWave- The retail price is how much an item costs before it goes on sale.
3I hardly go to Safeway although my fiancee is an employee there and we receive more discounts. We both think they're so overpriced.
4Instead I go to Winco's, Save-A-Lot, Walmart and sometimes Walgreen (for discounted vitamins--but watch out I once bought something that's expired).
But once a month/two months, we try to visit Safeway to shop thou, because they provide less stressful shopping experience than Winco's
Obviously I know that.
So then the english muffins at $3.99 were the cheapest retail-wise of those four choices?
I just found that mentioning the sale price was very confusing.
5I understood what you were saying, Savvy.
English muffins are so inexpensive! My grandma used to eat them all of the time when I was little; she always had those and Sandies cookies.
6Sorry for the confusion, TidalWave. Yes, at $3.99 the muffins were still the cheapest of the options.
7We don't have a safeway here, plus I know cost goes up and down depending on your area. I took a few good guesses though!
8No safeway here...
9Plenty of Safeways here (three in my fairly small town!) but since I'm a few hundred miles inland and not in a trendy place like SF, things are way cheaper here!
10Savvy, I'm a little surprised your post is about the delight of the Safeway Club Card discounts. I would expect you be keeping a sharp eye out and noting that Safeway marks everything up so it feels like their discounts are a great deal. Other stores might just mark that jar of sauce at $2.50, but Safeway prices it higher so it feels like $2.50 is a special deal.
11I still shop there (I get United Airline Miles for it) but I'm aware I'm getting suckered. : )
I used to shop at Safeway but Aldi and the local produce market are more my speed(budget) now
123/5 not bad.
