Approaching a job search from all angles is the surest way to successfully land something, particularly when there aren't many jobs available. I've always had the most luck finding jobs online, but some of my friends swear by recruiters and others get by with their extensive networks. How did you find your job?

From a headhunter I nannied for in HS. HE kept calling and begging me to do the interview even though I wasn't looking. I went to be polite, loved the company and took the job!
Staffing agency. Loved them!
Online - New York Times job listing. Sent my resume in, got an interview, got the job!
I have two jobs. Full time day job I found in the local newspaper. They called me in and hired me. My part time job I just sent them a resume via email not even knowing if they were hiring. I just wanted extra money and wanted a job there. Turns out they did need a person and they hired me too.
I found my job on myspace! Lol...
Monster.com
From my internship, which I got through the college career center.
Networking! My favorite professor called me a month after I graduated and told me I needed to work for him. Nice.
Craigslist! I've actually found my last three jobs via Craigslist, haha.
A recommendation from my boss!
Through a good friend - her sister needed an assistant and I needed a second job at the time, so I took the position. Now two years later, I am with the company full time and working on my second promotion!
The one that I am hoping to land today (literally!) was forwarded to me by my sister and former journalism instructor. I also spotted it online.
Through my best and most lucrative connection - my mom lol. She is very people oriented and people offer her jobs all the time, since she believes in company loyalty she stays where she's at and passes the jobs along to me (or someone else in need).
A newspaper ad, sort of. I applied for one job and didn't get it; they kept my info on file and called me almost a year later when they had a job that I was suited for.
Through my husband. He was working in this healthcare company and gave a good word for me to my current boss. When a position opened, I was lucky enough to be able to apply and got the job! It was rather easy and pain-free

A co-worker's brother-in-law told me the firm was looking for someone and she knew I wasn't happy with the job I had, so she told me about it and I sent over my resume. Three months later, I got the job...
I've been at my current position at my dream ad agency for 2.5 months now. I got it through networking with a former co-worker - in advertising, like a lot of industries, networking is ALWAYS the way to go!
I answered an online advertisement which I found through indeed.com
Had a phone call within 2 hours of submitting my resume!
Craigslist.
College career website.... they found me!
I walked in, handed them my info and they called me for an interview the next day. I was hired a few days later.
my main job i got lucky and actually found in the newspaper. it was in my field and once i went in for an interview with my background i was a sure thing seeing as most other people were just interested in the part time job and i just wanted the animal part. i fill in at an old job every once in a while and i got that one through a recommendation from another place i was working. i also got recommended by my hairstylist for a pet sitting job for one of her other clients before.
I got my job through a temp/staffing agency. I started out as a temp and three months later, they offered me a full-time position. Three years later, I'm still there and working my way up the ladder.
careerbuilder.com sent in my resume and got a call for an interview three days later. they hired me and i started the next week!
through the Theatre Communications Guild's ArtSEARCH
Chicago Daily Law Bulletin's online classifieds.
Monster.com or Hotjobs. One or the other. I was actually very lucky to be directly hired because normally my workplace uses agencies to supply contractors that they optionally hire after six months.
Found mine on Craigslist too and couldn't be happier:)
monster.com!
Societies related to my field/networking. I met tons of professionals in societies and they were so thrilled with me as a student most of them couldn't wait to shove a job offer on me. However I was featured in a magazine for one of my societies and my current employer contacted me and picked me up. I'm very happy!
Networking ... one of my ex-bosses (I wasn't working for him when I got my current job) knew that I wasn't actively searching for a new job but I was "open to something new". He recommended me to his wife, who's working at HR department at my current job ... they were looking for someone with my profile and I got the job.
Well, I am self-employed, but I have a part time job as well, and I found that through a staffing agency. They have found me several temp and part time jobs over the years.
I started out working as a admissions receptionist to get my foot in the door at the hospital I'm at. (It's very hard to get on here.) When an HR position came open, I put in a transfer request, was interviewed by my now boss, and given an offer. I accepted and haven't looked back!
Newspaper, believe it or not.
I'm really surprised no one else has said this, but I got my current job simply by applying directly on the company's career website. During my last search, I targeted the companies I was interested in and started looking directly at the source. Got several interviews that way.
Networking! I was friends with several of the company's employees so I had great references to begin with.
When my husband was accepted into a Doctoral program several states away, my at-the-time boss placed a call to his buddy in the town we were moving to. Luckily they needed someone - luckily they interviewed and hired me - and VERY luckily, I love my coworkers!
I found mine on craigslist, the last 2 jobs I've had in fact. I hate my currrent job but there is nothing else out there right now that I'm qualified for or close enough to home.
I found my job in a weekly newspaper. I sent in my resume and interviewed a week later. I didn't get word back for the job until about another week and a half later. I had actually gone on another interview for this job that I hated but accepted. On faith, I called that job and said no. One day later I got my job.
I've found my last two positions on craigslist also! It's funny because I hear sooo much about networking, yet I've had a lot of friends try to help with positions and it's always the places where I don't know anyone that I get hired.
this one: through my mentor. the probable next one: through mediabistro.com.
After I graduated college in December of 2007, I gave myself until after new years to find a job. I looked through the Sunday newspaper and applied to about 6 or 7 jobs, and my current one is the only one that even called me back. It has nothing to do with what I studied in college, and I really don't even need a college education for what I do, but it's a job nonetheless.
School Career Center I got the job but 4 months later
Networking-kinda. My fathers best friend was the VP of a company and needed an assistant. I started without even interviewing. My dads friend has been let go due to company cuts and I was moved into the accounting department and got a raise!
