Have you ever heard of a NY based company called Adele Services? No? That's because it doesn't exist, but credit card holders across the country became familiar with the phantom company when it recently appeared on their statements. Consumers from around the country picked up on the $0.25 cent charge with concern that their credit identity had been compromised.
The Better Business Bureau hypothesizes that the scam is meant to build a large sum from many small charges. While $0.25 might not cause you to worry, you may wish to report a false charge out of principal. Scan your statement for the suspicious company and file a dispute with your credit card company.

2that's really horrible that there are scammers out there who are doing that. i know that $.25 isn't a lot - but i have this huge fear that if i don't catch things then one day i'll find that i have NO MONEY.
3Thanks for the notice, Savvy! If scammers are successful at stealing a small amount per person, it would only be a matter of time before they expand to larger amounts or a wider population.
4This happened to me a few weeks ago. The only reason I noticed the charge was because I was saving up to move and I had not used my debit card at all that month. I saw the charge, googled 'Adele Services' and found a bunch of other people that had the same charge. My bank immediately refunded the $0.22 and sent me a new debit card with a new number.
