Opening your closet to constantly find the same old staring back at you might make you feel uninspired, but it seems more people are making due with their limited discretionary income by accessorizing the clothes they already have.
While most retailers did not fare well in 2008 and it's expected they will continue to struggle in 2009, the accessories market is projected to increase by 24 percent before the end of 2012. Analysts are particularly bullish on handbags and neckties. Have you been reviving old threads with new accessories?

I became uber cheap and I don't buy anything at all, unless or until it's 75% off. I also try to buy classics.. like trousers for works and warm sweaters. I have plenty of purses and accessories from the era of plenty--so there's no need to increase that collection.
1I suck at accessorizing... but I if I see something I think is cute and on sale, I'll buy it. Usually my sister buys me jewelry and stuff because she is a slave to style and fashion. I just wear what I want.
Purses are my weak spot though. I love purses. But they have to be on sale.
2No, I am not shopping as of now.
3I went a little crazy putting together a winter wardrobe in Nov and Dec, including more shoes and belts than usual, but I have placed a moratorium on all clothes/accessories spending for a few months.
4I don't do accessories. I'm not interested in wearing jewelry unless it's real, I know I'm just weird about that, but I only wear my wedding/engagement ring and a diamond cross necklace from my mom, which I think my cat has stolen..
I have been spending a few bucks on the victoria secret online sale, so affordable!
5Nah if I have some extra cash I'd rather buy a cute new top.
6SHOES!!! Your shoe size never changes even when your dress size does. Shoes are comforting. Shoes are wonderful. Shoes shoes shoes!!!
7Accesories tend to the be more expensive than clothing at times. Again it depends if your into expensive brands.
8i've been buying a lot more shoes rather than clothes. i feel like if i gain or lose weight at least shoes fit, so it's a worthwhile investment if i want to have 'staying power' with my purchases.
9I'm with shoes too. Plus, they make or change the outfit so clothing doesn't have to be so varied as long as you have the right shoes
10I've purchased 3 designer handbags in the last year. I got really good deals on all of them, plus you can use them year-round.
11I have found that clothing has been on sale for super cheap, so I haven't even bought one accessory... all clothes for me so far.
12Do shoes count as accessories? Got some fab Sigerson Morrison flats at Target for seven dollars!
13I need a bag. I've been looking for a to-die-for tote for less than $300. Since I haven't managed to find one that screams buy me, clothes will tickle my fancy instead
14I've been buying a lot of shoes too, but at the same time I've also purchased plenty of clothes. So for me, it's pretty much equal.
15No, I've been buying clothes. For me it's the opposite situation. I finally have some spare cash again after about a year and a half when I was quite poor and bought almost nothing. I already made do with the same old and now much of my closet is worn out and threadbare. So I'm taking advantage of New Year sales to fill in my wardrobe gaps.
16I don't wear jewelry often but this year I used my Christmas gift cards to buy a few nicer costume pieces of jewelry. I feel very polished when I at least put on a pair of pearl studs. Plus, I found that New York and Company has really cute belts and scarves on sale right now.
