Gas won the crown of the most overpriced expense in 2008, and if you drove at all there's no way you couldn't notice its impact on your bank account. Most of you estimate that you've spent between $1,000 to $2,000 on gas over the course of 2008.
Now that prices have come way down, I encourage you to save the money you're no longer spending on gas. You were able to get by when you were paying almost $5 a gallon, and since gas prices are now about half of what they were at their peak, you should notice that you have a little more disposable income on your hands. Estimate how much you've saved in gas this month compared to what you were spending at the height of gas prices, and apply at least part of the difference to the amount you transfer each month into your savings account.

Nada! My university has a partnership with the Public Transit system in the town I live and since the bus stop is right behind my house and on the same line as my school and part-time job...I ride for free! People really need to take advantage of mass-transit.
1around 100 bucks i use a bike ! most of my days
2I would imagine that I spent around 1500 this year on gas. Thank goodness the prices came down and I can now fill up my car for $20, before I was almost $50! And I just paid off the gas card that I got when the prices were really high!
3We actually saved money! We ended up having to find a new car, our old car would have been twice as $$. at the price gas is now, it costs me 14 dollars to fill!
