Back in October, before the aggressive days of holiday shopping began, you shared how much you planned to spend on gifts this season. Compared to the National Retail Federation's projection that US shoppers would spend around $830, most of you planned on spending much less. Were you able to keep your spending under the limit you set for gifts? What was the total damage?

I'd say I spent about $300 for everyone's gifts.
Shirt. What is that shirt? I want I want.
Almost $200 but thats only because I chipped in $100 for a pesent for my dad. Without that under $100 for everyone else combined.
I'll be at about $700 or so once it's all said and done.
Maybe $75. I sent some large gifts from Lush for the family to share, and that's it. DH and I aren't exchanging this year b\c we've both been out of work for 6 months. We're just having a nice dinner.
I didn't spend as much as I thought I would...maybe $300 or so. However, I wasn't anticipating the new KitchenAid mixer I was getting from my husband...so our total for gifts was a little higher than that. My grandma gave us cash ($50) and gave my mom and dad a check for $1000. She told them to use it on something useful...I'm guessing they'll use it to pay down their new car or something. I couldn't believe how generous she was with them...I mean, I know she's pretty well "set" financially, but I had no idea she had that much dough kicking around.
Just around $700. I haven't gone through all of the receipts yet to see the actual damage, but it's less than half of what we've spent in previous years!
I probably spent about $1000, but since I finished almost all of the shopping months ago it didn't hurt too bad.
I spent about $25 on cards and small gifts. I already splurged recently on birthdays, so Christmas can be more mushy and personal and less about big gifts. And I'm broke from those birthdays, anyhow.
Actually, make that just under $50. I forgot a gift I gave as an "early" Christmas present!
My limit was approximately $3000 - I spent zilch, zero, nada. I am still planning on buying gifts for family but with all of the hubbub in my family right now my funds should probably be kept in reserve until all of the dust and crud settles.
about $400. Gifts for my grandparents, parents, sis, bro, boyfriend, secret santa at work, three best friends and a donation in my boyfriend's parents name. The most I spent was for my sister - I got a Philosophy travel kit and a cosmetic bag for her.
ummmmm well i probably spent likeeeee $800-$900. Which i was planning on spending tho...so I did good
I think I spent about a total of $350, maybe 400.
My spreadsheet tells me I spent £1000 ($1500? i dunno) for me and my beau's presents to everyone. A little bit more if you count the champagne splurge as well. But it was all budgeted for, and not a penny extra was spent! Credit card is already paid off! And my beau still owes me half which is going to pay for new tyres for my car (and safety check and tax)
I spent $100 to $150. I used coupons and shopped clearance aisles. I made gift sets and they were a huge hit.
About $400... not too bad.
I spent about $800, which put me right on budget...not bad considering that included my boyfriend, two best friends, my parents and 3 siblings, my sister's boyfriend, my boyfriend's mother, his sister, brother-in-law and their 4 kids!
My husband and I spent somewhere between $700-$800 for everyone's gifts. We managed to buy everyone some really nice things while still staying in our budget.
$400 which included my sister, her hubby and her two kids, six girlfriends (I went all out for them this year, normally I don't do much), two of my son's teachers, my hubby, my boys, our dog (oh yes) and all four of their stockings.
About $600, I'd say. But one of those "gifts" was a combination HDTV/computer monitor for my man, and we both use that, so it counts as a gift for both of us.
About $350. Not too bad, and I got some good ones...my sis and I got a ring for my mom with all of our birthstones in it, she mentioned a few years ago that she wanted one and I finally got it together and got it for her. she just called me telling me how much it meant to her. yay for giving presents!!
I spent under $500. This is a huge amount considering last year i Prob spent $150. I was less strict with my budget since I got out of debt this year. Last year I was also very strategic with sales, coupons, and cashing in on credit card reward giftcards.
I budgeted $1200 and I spent $1100 so I have $100 towards next years Christmas already!
I spent a little over $100 for gifts this year, which is actually more than I spent last year b/c my friends decided to do a gift exchange. So that was gifts for 5 people plus my parents. I really didn't spend too much money per person and everyone really liked their gifts.
I didn't really set a budget but I'm pretty satisfied with the amount of money that I spent and happy that I was able to stretch it as I did.
For example, I went to B&BW to buy one of those nighttime aromatherapy sets w/the lambie for one of my friends and I had a coupon for a free item w/my purchase. So I got a bottle of the Mandarin body lotion for my mom along w/the aromatherapy set and I only paid $6.50!
Another thing was that my mom got me a ghd hair straightener for Christmas and I placed the order on Sephora's website. My beauty bank had hit 100 points so I got to choose a full-size sample. I chose a sample from Dr. Murad and its an anti-aging product, so that was also part of my moms gift. The only part that I actually paid for was a wallet that she wanted, and the other 2 items were free!
$500.
$50 limit for everyone.
I spent about $275 which is only $25 more than I had budgeted.
I spent 180$. I found cool gifts for less than 20$.
Well, I did really good this year saving money, I only spent 250.00 on everybody including my man. Little did I know that my guy was gonna surprise me with a gorgeous pair of Christian Louboutin's, so I guess that put a dent in the save money category. (But I LOVE THEM!!)
about $250 on 15 people, and i splurged a little on my fiance's gifts. not bad.
I think maybe I spent 300...but I haven't shipped my presents yet (oops) so in the end it will probably be 500 including shipping costs. But I did manage to buy everything with cash!!! Yay no holiday debt!
One side of my family is VERY materialistic, so I chipped in on gift cards with my parents, and really only bought gifts for my siblings and one friend. I only spent around $100 on 5 people and gave my parents IOU's as thier presents to help with the organizing and decluttering (I am a huge purger, if I haven't used it in 6 months, it garbage or donated) after remodeling the house.
Probably about $500 a weeks pay...too much!
