You know that going through life with constant deprivation is really no way to live, and this year 28 percent of you chose to splurge on clothes, shoes, bags, or jewelry. Vacations were also a very popular splurge in 2008, capturing 26 percent of your votes.
The easiest way to splurge without guilt is to save up for the things that we covet. In fact, I think that I end up loving something more because I've worked hard to save for it, and having to wait to make a purchase prevents impulse spending. My New Year's Resolution/Goal is to save nearly half of my biweekly paycheck to save up for a down payment on a house.

10My 2008 big splurge was books. Love books! 2009...I'd like to go to the Grand Canyon.
11I splurged on my Dominican vacation.
12Our Paris vacation for our anniversary was my beau's biggest splurge. and for me it was our LCD tv.

14We splurged on a woodburning stove for our house to help cut our heat bill. We own 20 acres of wooded land and my husband LOVES to cut wood, so we have all the free heat we want.
15Our splurge in 2008 was on travel, 2 short trips to FL, a trip to Tokyo, a week in Hawaii and a week in Malta and Italy.
In 2009 - our splurge will be house related - bookcases and other items to get us better organized and hopefully new countertops in the kitchen.
16Splurge was a pair of Citizens jeans. But majority of my money went to credit card debt (2 Cards down one to go!)
I was able to get a 3 year prepaid member ship for a gym for christmas with personal training so I'll splurge next year on 2 half marathon registrations and travel to get there from the Bay Area (One in San Diego and one in LA) and a Vegas trip in June!
