I'm a worrywart by nature, and these days more people can identify with that feeling of general anxiety. According to recent polls, 30 percent of Americans are worried they'll lose their jobs.
CNN Money points out that while current and projected unemployment rates aren't the worst we've seen, workers are scared for three main reasons. White-collar workers are enduring longer job searches — unemployed workers have a 22 percent chance of finding a new job within a month; some jobs won't be replaced, like many in the financial sector; and the outlook for job-market recovery is slow. Are you fearful that your job may be in jeopardy?

Always! There are just no guarantees within any occupation it seems these days. Working for a utility somewhat guarantees job security---we all need gas and lights! However, should there be "restructuring" or the higher ups feel that certain duties need to be outsourced, there goes the neighborhood! I wake up everyday thankful but prayerful.
1I'm not worried about getting laid off as much as I getting fired haha. It helps when it doesn't snow every day I'm supposed to be at work. I will not drive in the snow.
2I'm the only legal secretary working for two lawyers- one of which couldn't type an email to save his life. Fired? Maybe. Laid off? Nah. They need me too much.
3I worry sometimes. They just hired someone new a couple of months ago and i have been here for over 4 years so technically he should get laid off first if they had to let someone go but I work for a construction company and am the only female so i wouldn't be surprised if they let me go before him because of course i am just a girl!
4My boss has assured me that my job is safe but I'm the most junior person on my team, and also the last hire. So if anybody has to go, it'll be me. With how quickly things have changed in the past few months, who knows if my job will be safe in the future. At least for the immediate future things look safe though, thank god.
5I work for a tax specialist and he says we're going to be fine, but the unexpected possibilities are on my mind. For instance, what if there's a drop in clients, or if too many can't pay or go under? He'd still have work, but I can see him cutting back on my hours or worse.
6i think that it's only smart to have it in the back of your mind that it COULD happen, although i'm not overly concerned right now given that i do a lot of work, and my assistant couldn't really be successful at the level of work that i do. it's bad to say that but it's how i feel.
7I think I'm reasonably safe, since I'm the only creative person in my department who works onsite AND has been here more than a year. It would be stupid to let me go; I'm one of the only people who knows what's going on! But our sales have been in the tank so you never know.
The tough sales environment has made my job harder, so some days I think I wouldn't mind getting laid off. Then I remember that I have a mortgage to pay and I decide I can deal with my job after all. Sigh.

9Well, considering that two people in our team quit, I don't think I'm going anywhere soon. People get sick no matter what the economy's doing.
10As a resident, I know my job is safe. Hospitals always need the cheap labor.
11I'm starting my first "real" job early January, and I'm halfway concerned that they will call me up and tell me to just not to come in for my first day- or ever! This has happened with several of my fellow grads recently. Granted, my industry is not an unstable one, and they desperately need young, enthusiastic workers to take the place of the older, soon-to-retire crowd!

13And I was! Luckily I have a second job as a server for a catering company but it's not constant and slow right now. It'll pick up again in April when Wedding season starts again though!
14I was laid off in November, but have already gotten a job offer. I was unemployed for six weeks but had 12 interviews in six weeks. I think the economy is bad, but not horrible yet.
