As much as we try and stay focused on gifts for others when we're holiday shopping, it's challenging not to let our eyes wander, especially with so many sales going on. And when there's a buy one get the second for half price promotion happening, it's just asking for you to splurge on something for yourself.

Nearly half of you shared that you buy yourselves birthday gifts (as do I), and I'm wondering if the spirit of the holiday season tends to lead you to be generous with yourself, too. Do you usually buy yourself a holiday gift? If so, what did you buy this year?

YES!
1Yes I did!
My mum/dad have stopped giving me presents . . .I just got myself some clothes items I wanted and a bit of make-up. . . if I didn't do that then I'd only get a gift from my fiance so I figured I'd gift to myself to have more presents
2nah...
3lol isn't that what BOXING DAY is for!!?!??!?!?!
4I never have.
5i buy myself a christmas present, and a birthday present. This year's Christmas present was an Ipod Touch, and my birthday present is a trip to Rome
6A Cannon Rebel. And a new set of pots.
7No, but I got a pretty awesome Christmas bonus, so I'm thinking about it!
8I used to. Now I have kids and they come first, plus I love to give.
9Yes -- every year, I get myself an outfit to wear on New Years. But I always wait until the week after Christmas so the sales will kick in...
10No, if I had any extra money right now, I would buy a Christmas or birthday present for my husband.
11No. Not this year. Usually I end up buying myself something, while I am out shopping for others. They always just have such good sales and it's hard to resist. But this year I did ALL of my Christmas shopping online so I avoided the temptation completely. And I feel pretty good about actually.
12ohh... i would love to. i usually do.
13Kind of. At work, we got gift certificates to area stores, so we got to buy our own gift (MUCH better than some useless piece of crap with the company logo on it). I also sometimes buy myself something small when I'm out buying gifts for other people.
14I always do this. I will start 'my' holiday shopping next week since sales are so great everywhere. I deserve it.
15My bday was just a few weeks before Black Friday, so I used giftcards I had gotten to take advantage of the BF sales and gift myself! Just a few items of clothing and a robe, super discounted.
16My husband and I are trying something new this year, we're going to buy a "family" present instead of each going out and getting each other things. There have been a few items we've been discussing buying recently, so we decided to do a gift for the both of us. So I guess that's kind of like buying myself a gift
17Damn right i do(and already did). Every year without failure.
18As if.
I prefer to give, so my BF, mother, friends, and relatives come first. Not to mention my BF and I go to his parents' place for the holidays, which means there's gas to buy and oil changes to get.
Assuming I had any money left after all of that, AND my bills (hint: I won't have any money left), I'd probably put it into savings.
Besides, I wouldn't want to risk buying myself something someone else was already getting me. (Because my BF is a last-minute gift buyer, and he prefers to shop online, so sometimes I continue to get gifts well into the new year ;p)
19Of course! That's the only way I get gifts!
Who else is supposed to buy them? If my family gets me gifts, we all go out together and pick up what we want. Why hide the stuff? it's a waste of boxes and paper and time!
20I bought myself a new bag [because my go-to-for-everything bag fell apart] and a new ruffle shirt [because my closet doesn't have enough red cheer].
21Absolutely. With all the deals and sales going on, how could I not splurge on myself???
This way I'm guaranteed to get something that I'll like this year
22Yes! Last year I bought myself a new phone I had been eying for months and this year I am buying myself a trip to Colorado to visit my best friend for New Year's Eve!
23Kinda, I just recently got 2 new shirts for work - I used to buy myself something once I was done with my Christmas shopping each year.
24well i think that in past years i've treated myself to a little something, but this year i just don't have any money to buy presents for anyone so i can't justify buying myself something either.
25Yes. I bought a white shearling jacket.
26I usually don't but this year I decided to buy the IPod Touch 2g. At first I felt really guilty, but I am really happy with my purchase
27I bought myself the Canon Power Shot camera....I justified it by telling myself if I put it on my Christmas list I would miss Christmas pictures because I wouldnt know how to use it:)
28I do! And we do like margokhal, it's easier for everyone to just pick what you want.
29I got myself an early Christmas present from Sephora and I refuse to let the economy bring down my holiday spirits!
That's why I'm a savvy shopper...I save throughout the year and splurge on something super nice on my birthday and Christmas!!
30I love giving gifts - small med and big gifts! lately due to the economic situation - I have been cutting back on big gifts! Trying to make the small ones count! Meaningful Gifts ! Gifts of Time! So for the holidays I am choosing my gifts carefully - but for my birthday and for my BFF's I am giving time. They will all receive The Friendship Stone and inside a coupon for "two hours of my time"
31They will be able to choose what they want to do with that time!
they might just want to sit back on the couch with me a enjoy a good cup of coffee, or go to a movie together or I am willing even to Babysit so they can go out with their DH or even do their Laundry! Ok I am nuts but - time is what we have and we have to learn how to share it with the ones who are closest to us! Plus they will receive The Friendship Stone - that they can carry it with them all the time, and remember that I am always with them!
Happy Holidays -and Happy Giving!
My birthday was a few days ago so I bought myself an outfit and shoes. I will not buy myself something for christmas but I will compile my christmas money and get myself something after the holidays when items are dirt cheap.
32I usually don't, but I DEFINITELY plan to this year. No one else is gonna get me anything, and I work 2 jobs and go to grad school, so I feel I deserve a lil something nice
33I bought myself a coat on cyber Monday. It was something I'd had my eye on for months and it was marked down to $22 from $149.
My father-in-law gives cash instead of gifts. It comes with a rule, though. You HAVE to spend it on something you want rather than something you need. I try to keep that same rule for any money and gift cards I receive during the holidays.
34I usually don't buy anything for myself from mid-November on, but I did see something that I knew no one else was going to get me. I'm waiting until after Christmas to open it up. I also picked up some scarves for cheap and I grabbed an extra one in a color I liked, just in case
35If there's no way that someone in my family will be buying it for me for Christmas, I might spring for something I find at a good price for myself. It would have to be something I really want and will get a lot of use out of though.
36Sometimes. This year, I bought myself a leather clutch. I'm really happy with it. I use it a lot.
37I've been eyeing a few things that have recently popped up.
38Cool site, i will come back here, regards
