Workplaces make ideal TV show settings because viewers can relate to the concept and maybe even the characters. And let's face it, there are times when many of us have thought that our offices would make good reality shows with the ridiculousness that sometimes occurs. So, as much as these shows might have some aspects that are far-fetched, which do you think deserves a place in the Best of 2008 with the title of most realistic work-based show?

I chose The Office, but I think Mad Men is probably pretty realistic, too.
1Definitely The Office. Alot of things are bizarre, but it is scarily realistic sometimes.
2to be honest i don't think that any of them are overly realistic.
3I chose The Office. Some of the stuff that happens is obviously way out there for comedy's sake, but it's the little things that make it realistic. The way people view their boss and coworkers, making faces and rolled eyes, the way there are some friendships, but mostly just acquaintances, the parties that some people looks forward to and some despise, the office tiffs and teaming up(chairs vs. copier- at my office it's the AC), screwing around at work from talking to surfing the web. All the little stuff.
BTW, I love Samantha Who, but I wouldn't call it a work-based show. Samantha doesn't even have a job anymore, and even when she did, they only showed her office occasionally.
4i am no doctor but i've heard that grey's anatomy is pretty realistic when it comes to interns doing it in the closet and stuff
5Ugly Betty? Realistic? HAHAHAHAHAHA.
6Mad Men (well, it's realistic for its time). But yeah, three martini lunches, office-wide smoking and sexual politics ruled that time (and makes for great tv watching...love that Joan!)
7The Office.
8my workplace is scarily an exact replica of the office. my boss is michael scott to a T..."that's what she said" and all. i may not be the receptionist, but they way my boss treats me is exactly as if i was. plus, there is a guy in the office that spends more time at my desk than at his...hence the pam-jim situation. we have the over-zealous dwight...always looking to please my boss. we have the wild child meredith. we all laugh all the time and just go "dude, we are so THE OFFICE." LOL.
9rinerlt--My old boss could have been a Michael Scott clone. He did almost EXACTLY the same inappropriate things that Michael does. And we had a "Dwight" and a "Meredith". It was VERY creepy. But yeah, The Office is probably the closest-to-reality work show there is.
"Office Space" is probably the closest-to-reality work movie there is too...that's one of my all-time favorites.
10Mad Men definitely
11Definitely The Office...the strange personalities, the silly company policies, the office politics...yep. That's why it's so popular!
