No matter how much we love our jobs, when we think about the Best of 2008, those days away from the office are sure to make us smile. Vacation time is precious because we're only granted so many days, although many of us never use up our allotted paid-time-off because of one reason or another. How many days were you chilling away from your desk chair?

5-10. We get 12 days off per year, so I have a bunch that'll rollover to next year... wooo!
1I use my vacation time. I may not go on vacation, but it's nice to have a day off every now and then. I also have to use my vacation time for holidays, so I consider holidays part of my days off as well.
2All of it! We only get 10 days, and I ended up using quite a bit for the holidays.
3we get like, 15 or something... and i only used i think 8. the rest will roll over, but i plan on using 2 weeks in feb/mar to go to disney with the beau (who's only been once, about 20 years ago). yay!
4I've used about 8 vac days so far, plus a sick day. I have to use up a few more vac days by the end of the year or I lose them ... but with the deadlines I'm facing, that's not going to happen. I think I can petition to use them in '09. Fingers crossed!
5I get 22 vacation days, 2 personal days, and 12 sick days a year plus the holidays. I can only carry over 5 so I do about 17 because I do not like giving the job back what I have earned. Although I know some people who don't use their time and lose it.
I work at a university. Education doesn't pay much but the benefits make up for that one.
6I can carry over 5 vacation days and the rest continue to accrue.
7By the end of the year, I will have taken all 18 vacation and 4 floating holidays.
81 vacation day and 1 sick day (well actually two half sick days).
9we only get one vacation day the first year of employment, then 5 the next year. I think we can take up to 10 paid sick days per year.
10i get 3 weeks and 4 personal days. (not including sick days). i use every last day, cause it is use it or lose it. and they don't pay me enough to lose it! (i only took two sick days though for being legitimately sick!)
11We get 15 days... which includes sick days... and I have 7 left. That means I'm taking the week of Xmas and the week of New Years off (they don't roll over). I don't know what I'm going to to with myself! No vacation planned.
12I hardly ever take time off and usually have a great big stock pile of vacation just in case i get sick or something horrible happens, but this year I took a week and a half off after my wedding and I had acouple of mental health days just to keep me from going crazy. I still have an insane amount of time because I didn't take very much time off last year and it rolled over.
13I get 13 vacation days and I plan on using the last of them for my New Year's Eve trip. Yay!
14What is perfect work attendance? That sounds horrible haha!
I will (by the end of the year) have taken 10 days of vacay (all we get each year) and we get one day off every month so that's 10+12= 22 and then I've taken 2 sicks days- so 24 days off, sounds nicer this way, usually I'm complaining that we only get the 10 days of vacay but having the one day off a month is nice too.
15I technically didn't take any days off, but I was in between jobs for 2 months.
16Well, I didn't take vacation time, technically. I had to take 5 off because I had the friggen flu in the spring. In the summer I had to take 5 days off because I fractured my nose in such a way that gave me a concussion...very painful, and the pain killers made me act like a fool.
17I get 5 days vaca, 5 sick and 5 personal days so I use it all up. I probably only take 10-12 whole days. The rest is usually split up by leaving late/coming in early for appointments.
18i work from home so even when I take vacation I almost always do a little work each day. I took probably 15 days of this year, but most I worked like a half day. I've got like 90 hours saved up of vacation so I've got to plan some stuff!
19Well, I was unemployed for about half of 2008, so I was "off" all those days, lol. But since I've started my new job, I've only used one and a half vacation days. Today I used half of one because I got to work and the snowstorm was so bad, all the clinics closed and we had no work to do. So I went home after taking care of the cultures...kinda like a grownup snow day!
20I tend to take Fridays/Mondays off for long weekends for weddings and such - it gives me travel days. I don't get the holidays off so I'm taking 4 days then. Somehow it all adds up.
21At my company I get 10 vacation days + 2 floating days + the option to get more vacation days (after June 30th) if we donate .5% of our salary to a United Way cause. That brings me to 14 days off per year, one nice donation to my local community center through United Way and additional sick days to top it off. I can't complain!
I took more than 20, but it was all for being sick:(
22TG for Summer hours/Fridays.
23I took 4 days, I had a migraine that wouldn't go away and I needed to go to the doc for a shot. Ouch.
24OMG. I've only taken 6 days off this year. I have at least 6 more and they don't rollover so I better put a request in pronto!
25I don't have a clue because I travel ALOT.. I was gone in May for 4 days to Miami, September for 6 days in the Bahamas and another 2 on my way home I spent in Miami, Miami again at the end of October for 3 days, Phoenix for 2 days in November and Miami again from Dec 5-8.. so.. uh.. ALOT LOL
26oh and not to mention sick ..(ahemm... hungover..) days.. which is a pretty legitimate excuse in my office haha. I have the best job in the world
27Technically I took 6 months off after I lost my job in July.
28I sure hope I find a job in January!
I get 30 days a year (2.5 a month). I'm nearly maxed out, i've already scheduled time off for New Year's.
29i used to NEVER take days off but i learned a long time ago that if you set the precedence that you're going to be there all the time and never take days off - then that's what will be expected. i took a few vacations - one big one and another few that were just a couple days. if you get the days then you might as well use them right?
i'm getting married in '09 though - so i'll be taking more days next year.
30I'm a graduate student in research science, so my work ebbs and flows like crazy. Some times, I'll work 30+ days at a stretch with no off days, including weekends, and sometimes, I'll be able to take days just because there's nothing in the lab for me to do that day. The flexible schedule is one of the few perks of being a permanent student.
31All of my days off were planned ahead of time. Im not the type to call out.
32Technically, I have perfect work attendance.
334 of my days were sick days after sinus surgery, so those were not spent chilling. I have four more vacation days that I am using over the holidays.
34Psssh. I had no problem taken all my leave days. And then some
I used that sh*t up.
