Too many crowds on black friday, chill a bit....
1Well I'm officially referring to yesterday as Black Thursday since I decided to take advantage of the fact that we don't celebrate Thanksgiving here and do a little shopping on net-a-porter. Big mistake! I spent over an hour trying to place my order and in the end had to call customer service, and then discovered that the Marc Jacobs coat I was trying to buy had SOLD OUT in the time it took to get my order through. I ended up placing the order for the rest of the stuff over the phone, and almost 24 hours later i still have no confirmation email for my order. I called the customer service line again and was told they don't have access to that database...???
So I still don't know if any of my order is gone through but I do know for sure that I'm not getting my coat and EVERYWHERE is sold out of it.
When it disappeared from from my shopping cart I actually screamed out loud!
Online shopping
sucks...
2My wife went out for the first "black Friday" shopping spree, and loved some of it, and hated Target. There was no organization, and people pushing thtough those who actually stood in line, both to get in, and to check out.
3In an attempt to keep myself from saying "Bah Humbug..." I think we should recognize that most Americans cannot AFFORD to buy presents this Christmas. Recommendations for inexpensive gifts??
4I think that's a bunch of poppycock. American's can't afford to go hog wild, but they can still afford to buy presents.
5I heard the mall near my house was packed, but my dad and I went driving around, and their aren't really that many people on the road. Even near this new outlet mall we got...I thought the line to get into the parking lot would be huge! but no. I should go out and get some sales 8-]
6I agree. INEXPENSIVE GIFTS?
7I just came back from shopping and found the best deals at Old Navy. I got plenty of cute layering shirts for $5!
8IF you had wanted to save money, you should've gone out at 4am and did the early madness. My wife went out (for the first time) and saved us nearly 50% off what we were planning on buying anyway.
9Thank you for the helpful suggestions Hipflowers and lalagirl.
UnDave, no need to be
rude. My boyfriend and I lost our jobs, so times are tough right now, even in NYC.
10I'm hiring. Want to move to WI?
11Well, that explains a lot. My rent is probably three times your monthly mortgage payment. I have enough freelance work coming in to pay the rent/bills and feed myself... just can't spend a lot this Christmas. So, nope, not leaving NYC. Good day sir, let's get back to the topic at hand.
12To much craziness for me, no shopping thank you very much. It's bad enough normally, I don't want rude annoying people pushing past me all day...
I just want to say, I am sooooo sorry to anyone who has to work today (retail mostly) 8-0!!
13please anyone who goes out and shops today please be nice to the poor people working in the stores. I worked a 4-2 black friday shift and I swear I have never had people be so out right mean to me. SO remember its not the sales persons fault they don't have your size in the color thatyou want, they are not hiding an endless supply of them from you for fun, nor do they sew them in the back of the store.
14I totally agree esk4! Remember the spirit of the season when you're out shopping!
15It's sad, all the things I heard about people getting trampled. I mean, seriously? You trample someone to DEATH, just to get some cheap electronic.
16Check! I'm finished. Ahh...small town living...easy breezy! I actually got some Mp3 speakers for 36cents! Ya heard me. 36cents. Discounts and coupons!!
