We're hitting 2 stores today to be done with our holiday shopping. Hopefully by waiting until the afternoon it won't be quite as crazy. I've done the getting to stores at 4am thing once, never again. It's just not worth it unless you're trying to get all your shopping done in one fell swoop. Luckily I'm usually mostly done by this time of year.

i went today, nothing was all that great but i picked up some flash drives, sd cards etc so it wasnt that bad

I ended up saving about 200 dollars so for me it was totally worth it.

I forgot to add I only bought things I actually needed, not just because they were on sale.

I went out with my cousin at 4am (I just stayed up all night) to the local Kohl's, because they were running a sale on jeans that she liked and she needs a new pair (and she's a poor college girl, so $13 for brand new pants? how COULD she pass that up?)

However, we arrived there five minutes after four, we walked in, grabbed the pants, and when we headed toward the check-out... the line was already wrapped around to the back of the store.

We left and had breakfast at the diner, and she's heading back later in the evening since that particular sale lasts all day.

I guess people get family members to line up for them before they've even bought anything? I had no idea there'd be a line like that ten minutes after the store opened.
Never again.

I went out, totally not as bad as everyone makes it out to be! I went to sears at 6am got me a new washer and dryer! and I hit target and michaels and whatnot. Check this out though, today there was a shooting in our Toys R Us!! Apparently some guys got into a fight and one guys shot the other then shot himself!! It's insane!

I bought a few things at Old Navy's website shortly after midnight, and while I was working at Macy's this morning I noticed that a sweatshirt my husband wanted went from $40 to $16, so I bought it right away.

It took me a few years, but I finally learned to shop black Friday for the essentials rather than for the sales. I look at stuff online before I go if the store is a chain store, I just browse their online store. And I know my sizes and everything when I go in. I avoid stores that generally don't have sales usually, and I go straight for the ones that will benefit me the most. I didn't get everything I needed but I got most of what I did need.

I went out for black friday for the first time this year. I hit up the two malls that are near my house and neither one was very crowded. The gem of the morning was the down comforter from Macy's that I got for $40 (orig. $120). I definitely planned ahead though and was purposeful with my shopping. I don't think that I could've gone shopping so early "just because".

nope - not this year. last year i braved the crowds and i think that it's one of those things that i'll NEVER do again - it was painful to get up that early and to wait in those lines for the deal that i thought i was getting. i think that if in the future i have more patience and all that - then ok, but this year was NOT one of them.

Umm, I did it this year, for the second time. (The first was when I was in high school, it was a nightmare.) It was so much fun! Sure, the Target was crowded, but no worse than it is on move-in day, and way more organized. The Bed Bath and Beyond was awesome, pretty crowded, but also really organized. My mom and I went to World Market, and she ended up winning a $15 gift certificate just for walking in the doors. The Old Navy is in the same shopping center, and I went in there about 8am - what a zoo! But of the six or seven places I went this morning, all but Old Navy were busy, but well organized and an extremely pleasant shopping experience.
