You all enthusiastically shared some entertaining stories about the worst jobs you've ever had, but now I'm wondering what you'd say is the best job you've had. Most jobs have certain redeeming qualities, but which position would you say beats the rest?

My current position -- the project manager at an interactive design company :]
1Radio Station Promo dept!!!!!!!!!!
2AmeriCorps
3the one i have now-- art director at a magazine. great company, creative atmosphere, lots of input, challenging & interesting work. plus we have flexible hours and are dog-friendly.
4Hopefully the one that I'm starting on Monday!
5I worked at an amusement park when I was 16. On my days off, I got to play in the park for free with my friends. And I had no bills or responsibilities, so I went shopping with my paycheck every Friday. It was pretty awesome at the time!
6tsp -- being dog friendly is one reason I like my job so much too. It definitely makes the day that much more enjoyable!
7I love my current job but in high school my best friend and I were baristas at a cool local coffee shop. We hung out with college boys, listened to cool live bands and hung out with our friends who came to visit us. It paid next to nothing but it was the best job ever.
8Day Camp counselor when I was in high school -- got to hang out with really fun kids, be outside and active all day, go on great field trips, and put on shows with the kids. Hard work that was really rewarding, plus I wasn't at a desk all day.
9When I was in highschool I worked in a bakery, and it was awesome! I made some great friends and memories in that place! We had some good times
10Nanny!
Sometimes I question my decision to quit and focus on university.. it was a seriously awesome job with great hours and great pay, and was so rewarding!
11I think my current job is my favorite so far. I am a writer and associate editor for a magazine. It's a great company and I am able to work from home. It's interesting and virtually stress free. Love it!
12My job now. I work on a very leading edge telecomms project which is going to do absolute wonders for my future prospects. I get paid OK and hang out with a bunch of engineers whom I love like they are my brothers. And I get to come and go/do as I please.
13You know, I draw a blank on this question.
I enjoyed working at this music/video store (MusicPlus)when I was 18. I enjoyed my co-workers and the company. I got to listen to tons of great music all day and watch all the latest movies. The movie Empire Records so reminds me of my time at MusicPlus. It was like having all your friends working with you and having a party every night.
The best job I ever had though has always been babysitting. I love kids and love hearing what they have to say and what they think. However, I would never work in or run a daycare. Too many kids at one time - they tend to riot when you have too many 4 year old together.
14After college, I worked as an extra in television. Although it could be feast-or-famine work, it was during a heavy filming time and it paid loads for union members. Our work consisted of pretending to be restaurant patrons, bar dancers, office people, etc. We were pretty well treated, and I loved that job more than any other! I saw the same group of cool people every day, got free meals every few hours and got to do whatever I wanted in the downtime. It's not a very viable long-term career, but I'm so glad I got a chance to do it for a while.
15college orientation leader.
16sailing instructor. Hands down, the most fun. Getting paid to do something I love, be outdoors and teach at the same time. So cool. Too bad I couldn't make a career out of it.
17My fave job was working in a daycare, became great friends with the other teachers and even some of the families. I loved interacting with the kids and watching them experience new things for the first time (I worked primarily with infants and toddlers) They were so fun. I would go back to that field in a heartbeat if it actually paid well enough to survive in California which sadly it doesn't.
18I like my current job a lot (no really I'm not just saying that) but possibly my favorite ever, even though it was the lowest paying, was when I worked at a magazine stand in Chicago. One of those places with thousands of magazines from all around the world. It was like a dream come true, being surrounded by all those magazines.
19Up until a few days ago, it was my current job. But now I have a client who is making my job a living hell, and there is no escape.
20I love my current job right now, even with the long work hours.
21I'm not terribly fond of the job I have right now, but it's definitely the best one I've gotten.
22I like my job now, but the best job I ever had was when I worked as a sales associate at a store that sold fitness equipment. I essentially got paid to work out and help people pick out equipment. I only worked part time, but I always had a lot of sales so I got a lot of commission. Plus, the store was never really all that busy so it was really low-stress.
Nothing at all like the lab I work in now, where I'm running around like a chicken with my head cut off half the time.
23the BEST job that i had was when i worked in fashion - that was amazing since it was my passion and i loved the people that i worked with. i was around the people that i would normally idolize and it was a great way to be creative.
now i really do love what i do and where i do it - but it's an office job that makes it easy to stress about.
24Gripping and running boom mike for football games, I'd do the pre- and post-game interviews and help the camera guy on the sidelines during the game. So awesome to come out of the tunnel, catch the games super up close, rush the field after the game, and get to experience the post game locker room vibe.
Unfortunately they've cut back dramatically on the amount of media that gets to be on the sidelines so I haven't been able to do this in a while. But my dream job is working in sports up close.
25Even with all the stress and liability worries - my current job as a E911 operator. I feel like I'm doing something that actually helps people!
