Many people are reluctant to give anything to strangers that isn't unwanted clothes or out of fashion furniture, but Marilyn Mock has gone above and beyond in dishing out Good Samaritan deeds. When Marilyn purchased a foreclosed home for the stranger who was watching her home being auctioned by the bank, she surprised everyone but her husband, who is used to hearing about his wife's giving tendencies. His response to the news? "Whatever."
Tracy Orr, the owner whose home was being foreclosed, is hardly saying whatever to the stranger who paid $30,000 to save her house. The two women met just minutes before the auction began, when Marilyn struck up small talk with Tracy and asked her, "Are you here to buy a house?" Tracy was unable to contain her tears as she told Marilyn that her house was being auctioned off. After that simple exchange, Marilyn decided to bid on the home so Tracy could continue living there. She can't afford to just give the home to Tracy but said, "We'll just figure out however much she can pay on it. That way, she can have her house back."

2that is a sweet story! haha about the husband's response lol
3I hope she get some great karma out of that!
love it!
4*gets
5That is super sweet, especially at the bottom where it says that the women who bought it can't afford to just give it to the other woman. It shows an amazing amount of trust that's not really found now a days. I hope that she gets major karma for this as well.
6This is awesome!
7Wow, what a lovely gesture. Why aren't there more people out there like her? God bless her.
8This is friggin amazing. I wish I had the money to jump in and help people like that.
9When you hear awful stories like what happened to Jennifer Hudson, it makes you wonder what the state of the world is, but I'm glad there are stories like this to restore my faith that there are good people in the world.
10It's nice to hear good news
11If I had the monetary ability I would love to do something like this for someone. It seems like every day I drive home there's a new house up for sale/foreclosed in my city. It's crushing...
12Wow.
13I wonder if this model is what the Treasury Dept needs to do.
14Amazing..especially because the lady who bought it obviously isn't rich.
15Sorry, but this strikes me as incredibly stupid.
If the woman is losing her house, it's because she can't afford it. That should NOT be rewarded. People need to suffer the consequences of their stupid decisions.
16Even if it's not the "smartest" decision, it's still an amazing act of mercy.
17hitsmybike- that is an assumption about the owner. Not everyone who gets into trouble is "stupid". This woman is really kind-hearted.
18that's what i call a good semaritan. i don't know how i would feel to know that my house is being auctioned up but then again that's the crisis that a lot of folks are in because they bought houses that were out of their 'realistic' reach. i think that it's a nice thing for someone to do...
19So something my MIL would do if she could.
20hithatsmybike - thank you! while this woman sounds very generous, what happens when the other woman can't pay her? she's risking her own family for someone she knows nothing about, except the fact that the woman can't live up to a contract she agreed to. sounds nice, but it's just not smart.
21hithatsmybike and bjf...seriously, did you forget how our stupid commander in chief screwed up the economy by wasting money on a pointless war that rendered our nation at an all-time high unemployment rate that caused these crazy forclosures?
Man, it must be nice for you two to be so financially stable and so high up in the world (like Paris/Kim rich) to be so oblivious to whats really going on. Are you Palin supporters? If not, maybe you should listen to her comments more because last time I checked she was too clueless as to people's financial issues, which the majority of them are not responsible for.
Do you guys really think that in a market like this, its so freaking easy to sell a decent-sized house to move into a trailer? Seriously, who has money to buy these houses and move on up? If people are losing their jobs, that means nobody's getting promoted meaning nobody's buying houses.
Wow, you guys are seriously oblivious to common sense notions.
Sorry if I came off rude, but I really despise ignorance and insensitivity.
Have a nice weekend.
22well said ladychaos!
23Wow!
24what a beautiful person! I hope she is rewarded in this life too.
25(And I do also hope that Tracy will be able to get her finances together and pay Marilyn back, so that Tracy will have more stability and Marilyn's generosity won't come back to bite her in the ass!)
That's so heartening to hear. I love that buyer's husband was like, "whatever." LOL
