When it seems like every possible solution leads to a dead end, the seemingly sensible conclusion could be to just start over. Many American professionals are trying their luck outside the country, having been ousted by their jobs and left with pessimistic feelings about the future of the US job market.
Would you consider expatriating for career opportunities?

I so would!
I love otgher coutnries, and if I had the oppurtunity to make the same if not more money in lets say...Europe! I would for sure go!
If I had the opportunity, I would.
Not without my husband. =(
I'm studying international relations, so it's very possible that I would live somewhere else...I hope to be able to!
yes i would love to. i studied abroad in london and paris when i was in college, and i've always wanted to go overseas if i were given the opportunity - and i've even mentioned this to my fiance. luckily right now he has his own company so he would be able to work from over there if that were the case, otherwise we would have to figure out how to make it work with the distance.
Unfotunately I have to move to Europe in next few years, I don't like it.
I would! Depending on the job though! But probably!
I think it sounds fun. Though, I'm not sure my husband would be thrilled.
Already abroad!
I would definitely consider it -- a once in a lifetime opportunity!
I would love to work abroad! it would be a great change of pace.
Definitely. And if that place happened to be London, all the better I say!
I want to move to London more then anything. But we'll see if that can ever happen.
That's one of my career goals!
heck yeah!
I'm already abroad for work after being abroad for school. Glad I am doing it but ready to go back home.
I would definitely consider it...but only if the hubby was coming with me.
I interned in Southeast Asia three summers ago for six weeks and though I spoke the primary language and felt mostly comfortable because I'd been there before (my parents immigrated from there), I still experienced quite a bit of culture shock. I don't know if I could handle living abroad for longer than six months or a year, especially if I couldn't bring my b/f with me.
I've worked abroad before & loved it. That was right after college though & there's a lot more to consider now. If the right opportunity came up, I'd love to do it again.
In a heartbeat!
Yep - especially since where I want to go would double my salary AND pay for room my apartment.
I´ve now moved countries twice (my husband got transferred for our last country and I followed) and it´s been fantastic overall. The only thing is that sometimes employers are reluctant to hire someone who´ll only be there for a year or less, for a ¨proper¨ job.
If you´re looking to move abroad for work, I say go for it. Not only do you have something interesting on your CV, but you´ll grow and mature in so many other ways as well. Sounds cliched, but it´s true. Sure there will be hard times, and everything you could never have imagined will go wrong, but it´s worth it.
And yes, I don´t know if I could have done it without my husband.
My fiance is 100% behind my dream of working with Doctors Without Borders, even if he can't join me. I hope he can, though! It's quite a few years away, though.
Heidi that's awesome! DWB is such a great org
Already working abroad.
I will consider working abroad if there is a chance. But my recent situation is, i couldnt decide working in my own city or another city!
I'm working abroad in my dream job in London ... and I'm very grateful for the opportunity. I doubt I could do the same in the States.
My and my fiance have already talk about many times looking abroad to live and work. Now we are trying to decide where we would like to move and live.
My friend who is teaching in South Korea is trying to convince my boyfriend and me to join her next spring when I graduate with my masters. It's tempting, but I'm not sure I want to or that it's wise to basically throw away 2 years of working toward a career in historic preservation. I guess we'll see when the time comes next spring!
I've spent the last 3 years working abroad - it isn't easy, but it can be incredibly rewarding.
I would love to work abroad, especially before I settle down with a family. As I am still in my 20s this seems like as good a time as any. If only there were some good ways to research jobs overseas. Anyone know of any?
At this point, I really have nothing to lose by moving and working abroad. I think it would be a great opportunity for me.
yes, definitely. my husband and i have seriously thinking of moving abroad since we graduated college last year. we'll see!
