Owning a business is a future many of you would want — 70 percent of you said you'd love to be your own boss. If you had the opportunity to put your entrepreneurial spirit to use, what type of business would you want to own?

When I was thinking about owning my own business, I got a job as a Manager of a Pack in Mail type place. Since the owner wanted to sell the business - I got to see all in the ins and outs. But I wanted to run a store -- but I feel now that I want to continue my dream of art licensing my own work and hopefully building my own kids brand - through books and animations. At least that's the plan
1I really want run a "sweets only" catering business. Someday!
2I'd like to get my fashion blog monetized to the point where I could live off of it. Right now, it's just bringing in a little bit if "fun money."
I'd like to own a hip consignment shop.
I'd like to own a bar/restaurant with a space for live, original music.
I'd like to own a pet boutique.
3I would own my own PR firm, like Samantha in Sex and the City. My girlfriends tell me how good I am, but right now I am a practicing attorney and making that change is hard. Some day I'll get the gull to just do it!!!!
4I would love to own a used book store
5a magazine!
6A fashion mag or a fashion blog.
7Umm Tattoo Shop.
8I would love LOVE to own a spa
9I would love LOVE to own a spa
10An Event Planning Firm or a Boutique.
11I wouldn't mind a coffee/tea/flower shop.
12I'd run a personal training business. I basically do it on the side for free right now anyway...it'd be nice to make money doing it.
13Information/research consultant, or bookstore/bake shop
14Owning/Running a book store -- this English major would be really good at that. I'd love to have special events there too: author signings, sponsor book clubs, dramatic readings for anyone who wants to participate.
Other than that, probably a dog sitter/walker. I'd love to not have to sit at a desk all day, and I'm good with the poochies.
15I've always wanted to do a gourmet pb&j cafe but for now I'll just focus on starting my portrait studio (;
16oh, I have so many...bakery (I do some baking-catering on the side now and just started working at a new bakery to get the feel for starting from the ground up), yoga studio, wine shop (with tastings and guest wineries)...I went to my first meeting for a local entrepreneurial group last night, so hopefully that will help further my aspirations
17Restaurant. 99% failure rate, and I like a good challenge
18A Funeral Home (for humans and pets) -I have always been a touch morbid, and I have lost so many loved ones I know how I want a funeral director to act like and not act like. Plus I am not uneasy around dead things.
An overnight camp for kids- I grew up at camp, it was my first job and I found out who I was there, I would love to own a camp that would be open to any child ,special needs or "normal"
19CG, that's a wonderful idea. I was a camp counselor in high school and college at a camp where I grew up, and it's a great place. So many awesome memories!
My fiance wants to open his own music store where he can keeping teaching lessons (obviously other people would to), repair and sell instruments, restore vintage guitars (his favorite hobby), and sell music and other equipment.
20In the past I wanted it upscale doggie boutique but now they are a dime a dozen in Portland. Something all of my friends think a should start is a gift buying service, I am known for my fabulous gifts.
21right now i work in advertising in media - and sometimes i think that it would be really nice to have my own agency - that does media only. i used to think that i would love to do event planning and things like that - but media really is where my passion lies.
22Um, exercise studio please!!
23It's my dream to own a book shop in my home town. A friend and I actually started making plans to open a book store/coffee shop, but then my fiance (now husband) joined the Marine Corps. So, as long as we're at the mercy of the Corps, my dream will be on hold.
24I am researching and looking into running my own personal assistant and concierge service that is or can be affordable to anyone.
25If I owned a business it would probably be a copywriter business where I edit papers for students for a fee depending on the number of pages. But that wouldn't be a real business, so I guess I would open a business where I help truckers complete their tax reports. That's basically what I do now, except I would be working for myself.
26I'd love to own, run, and create for a design boutique. It would offer my graphic design services, yet also sell my jewelry/journals and fun gifts. I'd just love to have that store you go to knowing you could get something unique. Also, I have a passion for interior design and I'd love being able to switch up, repaint and redecorate my own store whenever I wanted.
27Puppy Store, Pinkberry and Pita Pit all right next to each other!
28A restaurant!
29me and one of my friends wanna open a brew thru out here in montana
301. Art gallery
312. Vintage store
3. Independent bookstore
4. Fashion stylist
5. Coffee shop
I'm not hugely interested in taking on the hassel of owning a business (I know from my father's experience that it can be a huge source of stress), but if I did then I'd want to be a Stylist a la Rachael Zoe.
32An assisted living facility
33I would like to own a small cafe where the menu changes daily.
34event planning
35a boutique with a coffee/tea/hot chocolate cafe inside!
36I'd love to own an art gallery or design label.. I don't really have limits, I could do well in hotel bisnes as well
37i have wanted a 'mrs. field's cookie" franchise for years. dh doesn't agree, so i doubt it will happen. i just think it seems like a happy, fun business. everyone loves cookies, right?
38Restaurant, Jude? I wonder why.
Mine would be a quaint cafe that sells coffee, sandwiches, and pastries. Fill it with some really comfy, kickback chairs that the customers would feel relaxed when they stop by. Sell some local art and music, coffee mugs, beans and tea leaves(fair-trade). I'm thinking about doing this for real in the future. Probably not by myself though, I'd have a partner in it, or two. My mum always wanted to have her own bakery, maybe we could work something out there.
Also, a chic little vintage and knickknacks shop.
I love the idea of starting a program that teaches children how to read. This is really important to me, I want children(mostly the less fortunate) to experience the joys of reading and using their imagination. Also, discover their artistic abilities: drawing, graphic design, painting, sculpture, music. This wouldn't be a business, more like an independent organization, not one that parents would have to pay for though. It would be more like a non-profit(I hate that word).
I have tons of others ideas...
39In my next life I am going to start my own travel consulting business!
40Hm...I would want either a bakery or a newspaper/magazine. I would like to co-run a bakery with a friend of mine and since I want to go into journalism, it would be nice to one day be able to publish my own newspaper.
41I'm actually looking into starting a Virtual/Personal Assistant business now, but would really love to get into organization development consulting. Basically helping companies identify areas that need improvement and coming up with an objective, mutually beneficial way to improve production, morale, turnover rates, etc.
42a holistic and "green" salon or a vegan bakery!
43online fashion retail! it's my dream.
