Conventions and trade shows are a great way to network, learn about new products and services, and study trends and opportunities you, or your company, should know about. They can appear dry to outsiders, but there's something pretty powerful about getting a large number of professionals from the same field together in one place and bouncing ideas around.

i don't - but more so because there aren't opportunities for me to do it cause i think that it would be interesting to be in an environment to learn more from people in the industry and to network. that's one of my favorite things. i'm sure that 'eventually' i'll be able to go to more conventions and see what's out there for me to learn.
i always hear about the conventions that are in tropical places and actually while i was on vacation last week, there was one at my resort in mexico so i'm all for it i'd think
1I'd love to attend a convention or trade show, but seniority determines who gets to go and I'm the "baby" of the office.
2I honestly try not to.
I'm not working in the field that
I'm in college for right now so it wouldn't help me at all. Plus I'm also a full-time college student right now so I use that as an excuse to my boss whenever he invites me to go with him.
3Medical conventions are a necessary evil (and nerdishly enjoyable, too!). Some of the lectures and events can be a little dull, but it is an unbeatable learning opportunity.
4I go to conferences and trainings, but not conventions.
5Yup, HOW, Magic, Project, a couple of fashion weeks to name a few.
6Yes, I attend at least 2 conferences a year.
7I loved the one convention I went to; I met so many great people and it got me excited about my job again. But in my new job there aren't as many conventions that are directly related to what I do. And these days there isn't a lot of money for training/conventions/etc.
8I travel to a few, but a lot of conferences nowadays seem to be teleconferences or webcasts.
