I've fantasized about winning the lottery, especially on particularly tough days at work, but when it comes down to it I think that I'd still want to work after picking lucky numbers. When ilanac13 commented that it's hard to say whether or not her job is fulfilling but that she'd still work if she won the lottery, it made me curious to see how the rest of you would handle the situation. Would you keep your job, find another one that you'd like better and not have to worry about the salary, or quit altogether?

Uslu Airlines
C&A
Superdrug
Definitely. Sooner or later that money is going to waste away.
1I would probably keep working for a little while, but it's hard to wake up early when you don't have to. I might go to graduate school, I might stay at home and work on writing, or I might become a philanthropist and set up a foundation to improve the community. I would get bored if I stayed at home all the time, but it would be nice to really choose what I want to do instead of just taking what I can get.
2If I already was on my way to being comfortable for retirement and my lottery winnings added to that would generate enough income for me for the rest of my days, I'd consider retiring and would instead split my time between volunteering and traveling. I'm sure those two things might get boring after a while though so maybe I'd go back to school or get another job to keep me occupied.
3if we are talking big bucks then i'd probably stop working for a while and have some fun traveling- then i'd find a job that i loved- no matter what it paid- and do that. that way i'd make a little cash but really actually enjoy what i do.
4I'd keep working, but I'd surely quit my job. I'd work freelance doing what I love.
5I think I'd like to volunteer my time or start my own business doing something I love. I couldn't handle Not doing anything, but I'd defintely be more flexible, travelling and whatnot
6I'd finally start my own business. I think.
But I don't
play the lottery, so that makes it pretty hard to win, right?
7I'd like to think I would, but if I won enough money and invested it wisely so I knew it wouldn't run out, I don't think I would. However, chances are I'd fall into some sort of venture out of sheer boredom. One thing I know I would do if I won is travel as much as possible.
8If you win the lottery in the military you get discharged.
9I might keep working... but not where I'm working now.
I'd find something that I loved - with a flexible schedule so I can travel!
10definitely. i think i'd get bored after awhile.
11I would start my own dog rescue so I wouldn't get bored.
12Yes - but I would use part of the money to start my own business
13I want to come into a windfall such as a lottery so that I can start a business. Not only to keep busy but to give other's the opportunity to have a job.
14If I still worked where I am now, then I'd quit. But I wouldn't be lounging and blowing the money, I'd use the time to invest in getting my business off the ground.
15A friend of mine who works in banking recently told me the story of a co-worker who inherited several hundreds of thousands of dollars. He intended to keep working but was undecided about what to do with the money. She suggested he put $50,000 to $100,000 in his checking account and save and/or invest the rest. This logic works, because if you keep working, you'll still get that direct deposit and be able to maintain or improve upon the standard of living you had before while having a great cushion in your account in case of emergency.
I would definitely keep working, but I would have the freedom to change careers and/or go back to school or take the event planning courses I currently am saving up for. As well as maxing out my Roth-IRA contribution for the year and buying a newer (not brand new) and more reliable vehicle.
16First, i wouldn't want too much money, a Million is okay, but $100K is even better to me. More manageable and i wouldn't even tell anyone. Yes, id maintain my work.
17RockandRepublic,
I wouldn't tell anyone either. I'd make an anonymous donation to my church. I'd probably only tell my parents b/c I'd be moving them to NC for an early retirement!
18It all depends on how much the jackpot is, really. If we're talking mega millions...well then... After I took care of buying homes for family members, I'd pack up my suitcase and travel, live in other countries and help out where I was needed. I'd be generous with my time and money in supporting good and sound causes. But with my love for travel and passion for foreign cultures, there's no way I could stay put and keep up a regular work schedule. Too much out there to experience and way too many wonderful people to meet.
19Absolutely, but I would probably relocate and work for things that I am a lot more passionate about than my current job.
20Yes, I'd definitely keep working and in the same place!
21I wouldn't tell anyone. I would continue to work because I like my job and my company. But I would probably retire by age 40.
22Depends on how much - less than 3-million, I'd stay where I am. More than that, I'd go back to school and do volunteer work. I'd invest the money (lord knows where these days) and pay myself from that.
23Absolutely and I would definitely go back to school.
24i would definitely keep working.. i just wouldn't feel as stressed to make ends meet.. just like above - it'd just give me a lil bit more cushion/comfort in knowing i have some money in the bank.. but i would also definitely do what others have suggested and invest/save more than 2/3 of it and just leave some in my account to help me feel better when i pay the bills.
25Yes, or at least do daily charity work. I can't handle having free time. I feel lazy!
26I'd go back to school and then open my own restaurant. Hopefully winning the lottery isn't what it takes to achieve this.
27If I hit a mega huge lottery I would start a ballet company with scholarships for underprivileged children....so yes, I would work, but for free.
28I'd definitely volunteer a lot more and invest for security. I don't see my life changing dramatically.
29hell-ta-da-nah. I'd make my money work FOR me.
30yes i would DEFINITELY continue to work and i think that i would probably stay w/in my company and not let on that i have the money. i think that one of the major ways that people lose their winnings is because they aren't smart about it and they spend it all and figure that they can stop working and be ok forever. for me - i think that i would upgrade some stuff, but i wouldn't lose out on the income that i have already.
31I'd quit, but I wouldn't sit around watching TV and eating bon-bons all day. I'd do something productive, like volunteer. I like to keep active.
I really like my job, but who wouldn't like the ability to do whatever they want, whenever they want?
32I would Open my own business, but on a much Larger Scale!!! ( of course I would do a little vacationing first!!) Depending on how much I won of course!!!
33I'd still be working - I'd probably do a better job, given that I'd feel like I could really speak my mind about projects and push for positive change. I'm sure that once I hit my crossover point I'd switch to a life of leisure and philanthropy.
Really, I'd like to say "I'd dump everything but my bikinis and move to the tropics," but that's so irresponsible, given our current economic climate
34I'm currently in grad school part-time and working full-time. I'd love to quit and just get school out of the way. Once that's done and over with, then I think I'd continue working freelance (which I already do part time) and help my boyfriend continue to grow his business, which is already looking like its going to be very successful.
35I'd probably have to work since I can't get health insurance on my own and I'm way too paranoid to not have it.
36I would quit and persue something that is more interesting....after doing a ton of travelling.
37I'd still work definitely. I'd be too bored if I don't. And the benefits I get from my current work are great. I don't think I want to spend $1000+ on health insurance even though I have the money.
38Depends how much I won. I think at this point I would still work because I like what I do but I would probably only work long enough for me to figure out a game plan and then I would probably move.
39No, I wouldnt work. Maybe its just me? Work is fulfilling, but if I had the choice, I wouldnt. I would fill my days with things I enjoy, gardening, cleaning, working out, having kids, all that. Leave the investments to the beau and be done with it all.
40Definitely not keeping this job if (when!) I win. Maybe volunteer, choose a different career (part-time), or even start my own business.
41Well, I am only temping anyways but I do play the lottery. If I do win a windfall I will quit working and go to school full time. I will help out all of my family members that were there for me in my times of need.
42I'd keep working, and stay at my current job. I love it that much.
43I've always dreamed of trading my job for doing charity work. I might work part time doing something I love, like at a coffee shop or bookstore, but I certainly wouldn't stay where I am.
44Eff no! I'd spend my time taking care of my family while they're still here, and if I really wanted structure I'd do some charity/volunteer here and there.
And I'd have a financial advisor so the $ never went away.
45I would do some kind of work even if I won the lottery. I definitely wouldn't stay where I am now but I would need to have done some sort of work to feel accomplished at the end of each day.
46I would do some kind of work, but I would not work my company any longer.
47Depends on how much I win. BUT if I won enough to live off comfortable for the rest of my life, I would quit, join a gym and volunteer at animal shelters. Or open my own shelter.
48I think I'd still work, maybe part time. I worked really hard to get the skills I have and would hate for something so beneficial to society to be thrown out the door.
49It depends on how much I won, if it's in the high millions range then hell no I wouldn't work but if i only won a couple of million I'd still work but probably only part time.
