yes money is WAY up there and i can say that it's #1 one on the list of things that stress me out. i feel like i should have more savings by now since my salary is higher than it has been yet i'm just not having luck with paying things down. i hope that one of these days i can get things in line so money doesn't make me crazy!
1Money is most definitely the #1 thing that stresses me out.
2YES! and am so sick of it.
I have been poor for the past 10 years now, since graduating highschool. Been poor through college, my first career, and now through grad school. It ruins everything for me!
3Unfortunately, yes.
4Isn't it for everyone?
5I agree 356UIK, I am out of grad school and I am still poor and I am just thinking when will I be able to turn it around.
6now that boeing is on strike....money is first on my mind right now!
7No, I have all my basic needs covered and plenty of savings. Even though I am trying to find another job, it is more to keep myself busy.
8Money affects almost every aspect of our lives, it would be very difficult for it to not be the #1 stressor. It affects our relationships, kids, pets, our social activities, and our ability to just provide BASIC things, like food, shelter, and clothes.
I've really started watching my weight, b/c I can't afford to buy new clothes, so that's a bonus!
9Yes it's up there for me. But, school and work is my #1 stress.
10Oh shy, I so hear you. I have been losing weight so I can fit into all of the clothes that I have that are too tight, simply because I cant afford to buy anything new either!
11not at all. i cried maybe once because of money, and have worried about it about a handful of times in my life.
12money is not on my mind lately. Thank goodness.
I'm actually not too stressed about anything as of late, except maybe the election, but I don't let that get to me too much.
13It's up there. I'm fortunate to have a decent job and I don't have to worry about the basics like food and shelter, but I'm unable to save a decent amount for a rainy day fund, which makes me quite nervous. I was also hoping that at this age I would be more comfortable financially, but the high cost of living has put a damper on that.
14Money used to be my biggest stress by far but I learned to live cheap and then I started earning more money.
I still live the way I used to and my new secret is to operate off of one paycheck. On payday every extra cent in my checking account goes into savings. It was my New Year's resolution and I've saved more this year than I ever have in my life.
My biggest worry now is my weight - which is worse?
15Money and where we're going to live which is swayed by money. So yes, yes, yes.
16Wow Roby!!! What a GREATTTTT SECRETTT!!! Seriously who ever thought of living off ONE paycheck a month? Wow, would the US savings rate change DRAMATICALLY for the better if everybody who was living above the poverty line took your secret and ran with it. Even though we're barely living above the poverty line I may take it and run with it any way in the form of our second income that is above and beyond our steady income...
17Thanks btw : ) ! Done comment spamming now : ) .
18I do the same thing. I live off as little as possible for the week, put away 70% of my money to paying off my loans quicker, and anything else gets put into savings when the next paycheck comes in. It really does help.
BUT I use that fund for things like fixing my car, or other things that i havent/cant budget for. So its not that great.
Money is very tight and getting a little better now the beau has a full time job but its definitely our number one worry.
19I get it gemsera, I use my savings as a rainy day fund as well as for saving up a down payment for a house. My car recently broke down and I had to get a new one THE NEXT DAY. I was so glad that I'd been saving like that 'cause the car down payment was in the bank and I've got more than a year's worth of car payments in there just in case something happened...
Saving like that is a great idea, even if it's just $20 here and there... but I know not everyone can swing it.
20I have a great job, no bills other than rent/utilities, and it's still the #1 "stressor" or at least the highest in importance for me and my SO. But that's because we're trying to put away 30K a year in our investment account and 8K for the two of us in our roths, and still be able to live the lifestyle we're accustomed to. It's a stressor only b/c we want to guarantee our retirement in 15 years and with the stocks plummeting and the economy in peril, and the service industry tip percentage is taking a big hit now, $$ remains very important.
21"No, money doesn't stress me out too much or too often."
My vote. We're doing okay. We're solvent.
However, I've noticed how the rising food costs have taken up more of the budget. No problem. I'm just going to have to re-allocate some monies around.
22My dude and I stay pretty calm about money...we're putting away an ample supply of it and still living what we consider the good life (expensive food, lots of travel, a cheap and somewhat questionable apartment, cars that might well have two tires in the grave). We seem to get more worked up about my crazy family or whatever bee gets in his bonnet from just making it through the daily grind.
23We spend MUCH less than we make, we don't have any credit card debt... the only thing we owe on is our house, and while we have a jumbo loan on that (it's a technical term), I know that a house in my area will never truly decrease in value.
24It used to be money - now its time.
I take that as a "good" sign, though I really would like more time in the day!
25I really try to not let it stress me out. It's just crazy. Sometimes we're broke like a fk'n joke. And then, sometimes on days like today.. [I cleaned the house and then] I look[ed] around - and I am so thankful. We have come so far. I try to keep a very optimistic and HAPPY point of view on things and life. But yeah, sometimes.. only sometimes it can really bring me down. I just always have to remember things ALWAYS turn around and up for me. (It's always been that way.)
