Linens 'n Things filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection back in May 2008, and after enduring an unkind Summer it looks like the chain must finally face its fate. It's predicted that the company will liquidate just in time for the holidays. Bad times for Linens 'n Things, but if you've been needing a new coffee grinder or only have two wine glasses in tact from your original set of eight, consider holding off on your purchases for a couple more months.
According to The New York Post, the end of Linens 'n Things is near and there's a good chance that we'll see going-out-of-business clearances in November and December. The company's creditors are getting antsy to see a chainwide liquidation as they watch sales continuously slide and losses steepen. Linens 'n Things may start taking liquidation bids in a matter of weeks, so stay tuned to see if your local chain is headed out-of-business.

1I'm in SoCal and I've been seeing going out of business sales at Linens & Things for months now. Every L&T store I've passed (and there are a lot here) has had the going out of business sign out front, with some touting 90% off all inventory sales. I'm not sure where this info about holiday liquidation sales is coming from... maybe it's different in every state.
2i've been hearing about this one for a long time and it's a sad thing but it could be great for my house. i don't NEED much but it can't hurt to check it out and see if there are any amazing deals that i can take advantage of.

5Glitterbug- they closed only a fraction of their stores shortly after they declared bankruptcy. Now they are facing liquidation and will be going out of business completely, meaning no Linens 'n Things anywhere.

7I went last week and more than half the store was already gone. Damn it! Wish I knew about it earlier because I am buying stuff for my new apartment.
8I recently bought a Sharper Image Ion Sanitizer from Linen and Things and I'm so mad that I heard so many negative things about the product after I have already purchased it. The research from CARB mentions that the Ionizer releases ozone in the air and is not as effective. I called Linen and Things and they can't do anything about exchanging the product for something else. I purchased two of them. When purchasing items from Linen and Things I suggest you purchase items that you really, really want. Now I'm stuck with two Sharper Image air sanitizers and I'm scared to death to use them.
9The manager was also extremely rude and hung up on me after I was trying to state my case. I explained to them that they are still getting money from me and I will use the amount that I used that was purchased back to the store.
