Retirement is far, far away for most of us, but that doesn't mean it's too early to imagine where and how we'll spend our golden years.
I like to imagine relaxing somewhere on the Mediterranean, eating fresh olives, concocting fabulous meals, taking leisurely walks, and reading up a storm. Have you imagined any retirement scenarios?

I dream of retiring in a small cottage by the beach somewhere in Southern California near my family....the other scenario would be to live in a small community in the mid-west or in oregon, but I know that I wouldn't be able to leave the rest of my family behind!
I always imagine myself in an old, roomy house with some land.
Near my family...wherever that may be. I want to be around my daughters family and my future nieces &/or nephews and all of their children...or whatever.
I'd like to have a house where grandchildren can come and play and stay the night to give their parents some rest and I hope that it's around Seattle. I like Seattle.
Somewhere in Europe preferably in Italy or Greece, Austrailia, or around here in FL.
On the Gulf Coast of Florida in a beautiful house that is facing the ocean. It would have a huge wrap around patio made of wood so I can sit on the patio and listen to the ocean and watch the amazing sunsets:)
I don't think I'll ever retire. May be slow down. Fortunately I can operate remotely. I can operate on a dingy in the middle of Lake Tahoe. Try falling in that water, it is flipping cold! I heart Tahoe. It is the only place I find myself voluntarily picking up garbage when I see it.
We would love to live in Barbados! It is so beautiful their
My family owns a condo on a beach in SC. I imagine I'll end up there, or sell it and buy something else on the beach. I like waking up and seeing the ocean outside my window. Its one of the few things in life that I can always count on being there when I wake up.
Sanibel Island, Florida!
Either the Mediterranean, or somewhere in the English countryside.
I never thought about it but it makes me wonder now reading the responses.
I'd love to move back home to Alaska.
Santa Ynez CA, right near Santa Barbara. Rolling hills filled with vineyards, mild weather year round, close to where I grew up. I love that area.
Hawaii would be nice :]
Charleston, SC in a small, historic home either downtown or on nearby Sullivan's Island.
But more likely than not we'll decide on that after we have kids and see where they settle!
Mexico, or Latin America but I would keep working until possible.
I dream of living in a big apartment right off Lake Michigan in Chicago.
Near my family
Wherever that may be! I'd also like a house in
France or Italy to spend lots of time in as well.
in a perfect world i would love to retire somewhere that has a nice mix of beach and city - some place like hawaii where you can have the great weather and you still have the big city where you can get all the things that you're used to -yet the speed of life isn't as high and you can relax a bit more. the downside is that it's so time consuming and expensive to get from there to the mainland -but families would be open to come and visit since it's such a nice place.
ilanac - I would recommend San Diego or Charleston for you then! Both cheaper than Hawaii
i want to be down south - maybe a farm out in Alabama, where i'm from - well, maybe not a farm, but a nice one level home outside of Birmingham. Then, maybe a house in Napa.
Savvy, I feel you on the Mediterranean local. That would be in my top 3 places. My other 2 are Maui and Napa.
Hopefully I retire at 35 in Costa Rica! I love that country. One can only dream...
I have never though about it, but I would imagine it would be near my children and grandchildren. At some point though, I would love to live in the English countryside, South of France, or Italy.
Tuscany
Not yet plan but My plan one nice house in Canada with lovely family
i'd like to split my time between the states and a house in tuscany!
I actually don't think about it very much. I imagine I'll want to be close to my kids, but other than that, I don't have any requirements. I imagine I'll be working part time, helping with grandkids, and volunteering.
The Oregon coast, even though I'm a California girl and I love the sun...I love a rugged, rocky beach even more!
Somewhere in the mountains of New Hampshire.
We're planning on a ranch in the mountains...maybe Montana or Wyoming and also a beach house possibly in Mexico.
