If thinking outside the box and taking chances are what it takes to get the things you want in life, then TeamSugar member tphilli may be able to teach us a thing or two. Following suit of those who have used eBay in non-traditional ways like finding a wedding sponsor, tphilli is using the site to try and find a mentor. Starting at $0.99, the bidding war to become a mentor to tphilli is open, but there haven't been any bids just yet. Here's a glimpse of the ad.
I have pursued jobs in various arenas relating to my interests and hobbies and none have proven lucrative, in fact some of my favorite jobs have been little to no pay. I have read numerous books, been to countless seminars and watched videos of successful millionaires and entrepreneurs all leading me to the conclusion that I need a personal mentor.
You can find the eBay listing here. Good luck, tphilli, and keep us updated on your mentor search; I hope you find the guidance you're seeking.

Why would someone pay to be someone's mentor and why would someone want a mentor that paid for them???
1i like the originality there -but i have to agree - i don't know who would be willing to pay to be your mentor - but i said the same thing about people who would bid to pay off someone else's loans...
2I'm sorry, but this is probably one of the stupidest things I've ever heard.
Aside from the reality that no one's going to pay for this nobody's hero-worship, how can anyone be so incapable of choosing a path or role model for their life that they resort to placing ads on the internet?
Maybe it's a joke??
3interesting...
4nuff said...
5Someone might just pay to be your mentor if they were trying to sell you an "unbeatable package to start your own business!!! Earn $4000 a month!!!". (Those would be scams, by the way, in case you need to be told...)
I'd be willing to be someone's mentor if they pay me enough (or is willing to be my personal slave). Not the other way around, though.
6Interesting, but why would someone pay to do this?
7It seems like it should be the reverse ...
8I bet she get's bids - legitimate I don't know. I said the same thing about the cornflake and we know how that turned out.
9At least you get something for a cornflake...the flake itself. However, being someone's mentor? I think it's just ridiculous. However, if someone's that hard up for a mentee, then go for it.
10Wait, so this person wants someone to pay HER to be HER mentor? Mmkay, good luck with that...nice work if you can get it!
