Spending hours surrounded by co-workers every day and sharing space means we only have a certain amount of privacy at work. Sometimes people will nosily look over your shoulder to get a glimpse of the action on your screen, and I've found that often co-workers are more guilty of this than bosses. Do you feel like your colleagues respect your privacy?

I have only one spying co-worker at work, and I hate leaving my desk when this person is around. Shortly after the person started, I had left my desk to get a glass of water, and when I came back, the person was scrolling through my Sent box because my other co-worker had accidentally deleted an e-mail I had just sent her. I was appalled but didn't say anything and as far as I'm aware, it was a one-time thing. This person is also the type to encroach on your personal space in our already very small cubicles. Can't wait 'til said person leaves...
1just lock your pc before you leave your desk. Windows key L
We dont have any privacy where I work. Extremely open plan, and we work in a room with our client and other vendors, so I dont have any privacy to invade!
2i actually do feel like my co-workers respect my privacy. i don't think that we ever really peer at each other's computers, although i have been known to glance at my asst's computer when i feel like she's not doing work when there's a lot to do. she's always on facebook or one of those sites..so i think that it's justified that i'm keeping tabs on her productivity. otherwise, we all just go about our own business
3When I worked in an office, this was a big deal. Ummm, what's on my screen is no concern of yours, as long as it's not offensive. (It was the same picture that I have as my avatar on the sugar sites (or sometimes msnbc.com) unless I had a client file open.) But everyone was all about glancing at each others' screens. It was a pain in the ass!
4I'm so lucky now because I have an office! When I worked in a cube it was hard having any privacy. I did set up my computer to face out to the cube entrance... otherwise people would come into my office & scare me! I'd literally jump out of my chair.
At work I kind of just expect not to have a certain level of privacy.
5My officemates are nice enough to keep quiet when they can sense something private going on.
6I try to respect their privacy... I just wish they would do the same for me. The guys tend to hover around my desk and it gets to be annoying. It irks me even more when they come behind my desk to see what is going on and just stare at the fax machine and my computer. I don't go behind their desks to see what's going on or comment on what they are(n't!) doing. It annoys me even more if they think I'm not busy and expect me to drop what I'm doing for them. Hello, I'm juggling 1-3 tasks here... that stupid email isn't as important as the thousand dollar(+) sale sitting on my desk that I need to run. I wish they would give me more privacy.
7I never really thought about it, but we're all pretty good about taking hints and respecting each other's privacy. We're "work friends" - friendly & fun, but still professional.
