When employers are reviewing resumes and calling candidates they want to meet, they are trying to figure out one thing: Who is the best person for this job? They are looking for someone who fits the bill and brings the whole package. Figure out what you bring to the table, and during an interview know how to explicitly convey why you are the best person for the job.
Succinctly cover all the bases, from fitting in with the company's culture to how your previous experience gives you an edge in the position you're going after. This is your chance to sell yourself to the employer, so make it short, sweet, powerful, and complete.

interviews are always stressful it seems - since you want to put your best foot forward but you don't want to seem overly confident and come off cocky. i think that sometimes it's much easier to talk about your experience and what you've done with your current assignments to show that you could be a great fit. it's a good idea in my opinion to find out the type of work that the company does - and what their recent PR might have been so you can relate to that. as i've said in earlier posts - it's always good to find something that you relate to on a more personal level so that you are the person that they remember - and that they can be happy about working with.
1As someone that helps out with interviews at my company, I've seen a lot of blunders. We often give the interviewees one last opportunity to tell us why we should hire them. The worst is when they begin telling us how this job is right in line with their career goals. We're more interested in hearing what THEY bring to the table.
2Kind of like the posting earlier this week (last week?) on indie/mom & pop coffee shops vs. Starbucks - you have to figure out what makes you valuable and sell it!
3Yuck, I hate it when interviewers ask this question. It always feels like they can't be bothered to think of anything more insightful or useful to ask.
